Welcome!

Not many first outings produce images like this one.

Also the VM 28mm Ultron II is a real gem of a lens.

Enjoy!

My brother just sent me a similar image from Glasgow 🙂.  Am guessing zero wind there today - but …… you made a decision on the M11?

It was remarkable - just for 20 minutes or so. The clearest, warmest day here so far this year. Yes, I took the plunge at the weekend. Life is too short. I love the look of film, but it's becoming prohibitive to keep shooting a lot of it. My M9M is special, but the M11 is in another league, as far as the interface goes.

Am excited at seeing your results from the M11 - and hearing about how you grow to feel about it (spoiler alert - it took me a long time to ‘bond with it’ but I fully have).

Thank you - and nice to know you have bonded with your M11. I'm still in the foothills at the moment.

Went to check out a new SCCA track in western MA (Palmer Motorsports Park).  The most interesting and accessible area was the pits -- more people, cars open so you can see the modifications made and the really incredible increases in driver security that are now required for all but novice classes.  And a car screaming by at over 100 mph looks just like a car standing still, as far as I'm concerned.

Here's a class I had never heard of -- Lemons racing:

You have to start with something so old that you can buy it for under $500, but then it can be enhanced.

Just a roll bar is no longer enough protection:

and notice the wrap-around head protection that now comes with a racing hard seat.  Drivers are now wrapped so tightly, that some can only install the steering wheel after they have climbed in and strapped themselves (and their helmet) firmly in place.

The most exotic car on the track last weekend was this tiny, 1600 CC English Ford powered, creature with slick aerodynamics and really wide tires:

You sort of have to wear it

With the fat tires, this car could take corners faster than anything else present that day, but bigger, newer cars pull away on the straights.

but actually his lap times seemed quicker than most of the others.
