fotografr Posted January 6, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I took a walk along the bike path that borders the river near my house and came across this Cooper's Hawk just finishing its meal of fresh duck. Life and death in the wild kingdom. As I was shooting a biker came by and scared the hawk away. M10M, 50 APO Welcome, dear visitor! Idawhat Posted January 7, 2022 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2022 Gotta eat. It's too bad the biker scared the hawk away. The bird needs its food. I once saw a hawk swoop down and grab a jackrabbit. The rabbit was too large for the bird but it sure was an interesting lesson in survival.

The hawk just flew up to a nearby tree and I'm sure it went back as soon as I left. It had already eaten most of the insides so it's in pretty good shape. There are lots of ducks that stay on the river over the winter so this hawk is going to have a steady supply.
