Quite often I get tired of capturing what the 'eye' sees, and like to mix it up just for fun.

Let me see your images, please. 

Taken with an M240, 28mm f2.8

Edit: Fairly simple formulation: switching to ‘point curve‘ and having anchored the middle grey, invert blacks and whites as a starting point, then twiddle the settings to taste. I reduced clarity on minimum. All done in LR.
PS offers more possibilities with layers, I’m told, but I have a high learning curve looking like Everest from the foot hills!
