Hi Guys,

I don't if you have noticed, but it seems like the M10R and nono dont recognize my APO 35 f2 and 50 f2 lenses. Have you guys noticed the same?  I can't even find them manually.

Both cameras are on the latest update.

NB: before people go; use the search etc. I did with no results.😅

The 6 bit of my APO 50 is recognised by both the M10R and M10Mono. You might do it in the wrong way. Set lens detection on Auto and press on the right the central button between the four cursors

Current lenses  that are manufactured with the six bit code are not in the list where you make the manual selection. The little window on the mount may need cleaning. A Zeiss lens wipe is good for this. Also remember that the lens needs to be firmly clicked into place.

Well not on mine. That is weird. I'll be sending it in. How can you do it the wrong way? I mean it clicks in place, plus it set to auto. I have shot Leica since 2007. I can assure you. Its done properly.

I had a reader intermittent failure on a 262 M-D, which was particularly annoying (as there is no LCD to check). The case you describe either tells us that

  • a) both cameras have the same of similar reader issue, for example one of the six leds is somehow working in a strange way, which affects lenses you describe but maybe not some others
  • b) both lenses are wrongly coded
  • c) there is some sort of a user error at play

I would still think (and hope for you) we are looking at option c).

My 1:2/50mm Apo is certainly detected by the Monochrom; having no 35mm Apo I can't tell you about the other lens.

Normally lens detection should be activated automatically by any lens with a 6-bit-code - even if you have chosen any other lens detection manually. Since both the 50mm and the 35mm Apos are always coded, you should not bother about your settings in the menu for manual lens detection - as long as lens detection is not switched off.

Have you checked your firmware? Is it the latest release (3.21.2.50 for the Monochrom)?

Have you tried with other coded lenses? How does the camera react?

Did you try to clean the sensor for 6-bit-codes?

If nothing helps, contact Leica Customer Service.

I tried the APO 50mm again. This time it worked I'm really struggling understanding how I could mount it wrong, i have been shooting with it all day. Beautiful pictures as usual with that lens. I was by accident, i noticed that the LCD was saying 28mm when the 35 APO was mounted. I only touch that setting when i mount the 35mm v4 on, because it's not coded.

The 35mm APO however is still dont. According to my dealer, it's a known issue and will be addressed via the next update.

Thanks guys. And happy new year to all of you!

Yes, now the 50mm APO is detected by the M10 Mono and the 10-R. I did clean the code. I never did that in the past. Good Point.

It doesn’t take much to turn it a hair past the median point one way or another. It’s sensitive to the coding marks being centered over the readers.

I know this is obvious . . . but make sure the camera is turned on when you change lenses (speaking from experience here 🙂 ).

Never. Bad idea.

See numbers 1 in each case from the user manual.
