Rusty Posted December 19, 2021 Share #1  Posted December 19, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) For those that are interested I shot a few samples at various f stops. OOC jpgs shot with a -1/3 EV and at various ISO (I used auto ISO in manual). https://russellp.smugmug.com/TT-Artisan-3414/  Shots are labelled with f stop. I'm no expert on lenses but most of the results look quite good to me. I did this for my own information but if its of help to anyone else that's great.  cheers Russell 1

tommonego@gmail.com Posted December 19, 2021 Share #4  Posted December 19, 2021 The lens is small, a tiny bit bigger than my 1972 pre asph Summilux. Buying it got me to use the Summilux more on the CL, which made me discover a focusing anomaly with the lens which is very obvious on the CL not so much on my rangefinders, so I have thank the TTArtisan 35. I use the both 35 f1.4s old school on manual selecting the ISO I want to work with on RAW. Here is one at f2.8 35mm TTArtisan. Welcome, dear visitor! With my Summilux infinity seems to be between 20 and 30 ft, so I had been wondering why it wasn't doing infinty well on my rangefinders, the RF shows infinity at infinity. I don't generally use 50mm that much on any camera, I like 35mm and 80-90mm, so I hadn't used the Summilux much on the CL. Buying the TTArtisan and testing it, I began using 35 on the CL and it showed the Summilux's infinity problem right away. Probably missing a shim from a service several years ago, will send it out after the holidays.

I don’t have the pre-asph.  I’ll have to check it out and see if I experience similar issues.  Were you using the Leica adapter with the Lux or aftermarket? This was a 1972 pre asph 35 Summilux not the TL or FLE, with a Leica M to L or 3rd party adapter. I have had the lens for close to 40 years. Don't think you have to worry. Actually, the reason I asked was I have some older glass in storage that I considered digging out for a try.

Summilux 35 or Summilux 50? I have one of the '72 Summilux 35mm lenses. Infinity seems on the money with both my M4-2 and the CL, and in photos I made with it fitted to the M-D 262 when I had that camera. I had mine serviced by DAG some years ago as it had a very sticky action due to dried up grease and grit in the focusing threads. I'm sure he checked the lens for focus and rangefinder collimation at that time. Yes: time to have the lens serviced. It's such a great lens, it deserves to be restored to top condition..! G
tommonego@gmail.com Posted December 22, 2021 Share #11 Â Posted December 22, 2021 This is a 1972 35mm Summilux, I have had it for 40 years or so.It will definitely go out for repair. It had a CLA a couple of years ago so I suspect a shim didn't go in on the reassembly.
