arthury Posted September 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2007 Location: China ??? You might wanna be mighty careful with that one.
farnz Posted September 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2007 Yep, classic signs of a stolen account or other dodgy dealing: no transactions for over 3 months, previous transactions were purchases of guitar and music items, suddenly selling for the first time, 4 M8s at a tenth of their value in 24-hour lots, account registered in USA but items located in China. My advice fwiw: steer clear. Pete.
pekem Posted September 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2007 eBay security are investigating this listing. I would not be surprised to see that it is pulled within the next hour or so.

Bill W Posted September 3, 2007 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) No selling transactions ever. Last time they bought anything was December 2005 and now they suddenly have 4 M8's to sell?????? Strangely no one has bid on any of them so far!!!!!!!! DaveB Posted September 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted September 3, 2007 Perhaps if you "Buy it Now" the seller will include a complimentary Noctilux?
lightpainter Posted September 3, 2007 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2007 My guess: it's a sophisticated juggler close to retirement. These four M8's were his favourite juggling objects because he was such an aesthet. There is no doubt about the sincerity of these auctions. One piece of advice, thought: Before placing a bid, I would ask the gentleman or gentle woman if he/she had the nasty habit of sometimes dropping objects in his/her shows. P.S. Let's drink to words with double meaning.
Philinflash Posted September 3, 2007 Share #10 Posted September 3, 2007 You guys buy the first three and I'll buy the fourth. That is, if you don't have a problem. Maybe these are the first of a new knock-off line.
bayerische Posted September 3, 2007 Share #11 Posted September 3, 2007 Come on, he has bought 10 items on Ebay, the last one three years ago, and probably insider trading with his scam friends It's a STEAL!
Philinflash Posted September 3, 2007 Share #12 Posted September 3, 2007 Maybe Leica Camera has lowered its standards for new franchised dealers in China and they have given him a special price on his start-up inventory to jump-start his business. farnz Posted September 3, 2007 Share #13 Posted September 3, 2007 Somebody with zero feedback has bid on it. Not suspicious at all. Pete.
farnz Posted September 3, 2007 Share #14 Posted September 3, 2007 Now there're 3 and 4 bids on the other M8s from the same seller. Somebody's going to get burned ...
Bill W Posted September 3, 2007 Share #15 Posted September 3, 2007 If nothing else, this has been entertaining. I had two of the auctions in my watched items. It will be interesting to see if the seller gets banned for not delivering the M8's. Both sold for under $400. If it is a scam, it is probably a lot less than the scammer was expecting to get. I will report if I see anything in the future.
Philinflash Posted September 4, 2007 Share #16 Posted September 4, 2007 I sent a message to the seller asking for the camera serial number and the length of the manufacturer's warranty. You will be amazed to learn that I received no response. I am deeply, deeply disappointed. But I'll get over it.

Bill W Posted September 4, 2007 Share #19 Posted September 4, 2007 They removed the auctions and there is no link to them as watched items even though they were completed. I guess my back-up M8 for $400 is not going to happen after all.
Jlondon53 Posted September 5, 2007 Share #20 Posted September 5, 2007 Usually these kinds of auctions are accompanied with a request and an email address where they want you to contact them. I've found that if you just do what the seller asks you not to do - and send them a question "thru the ebay" system, as a previous forum poster did, that the ebay automated security kicks in and kicks the auction out. I generaly do this as soon as I see such an auction in order to save some dummy from losing their $. I didn't on these auctions, however, because the seller didn't ask to be contacted outside the ebay system and I just wanted to see how long it would take before it got caught.
