andybarton Posted October 26, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2021 I have an almost identical Mac Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! but with 3x the RAM. I have just started to notice things starting to slow down with Lightroom (M240 files, so smaller than yours). I think that it might be time to save up and buy a new one next year. I am not familiar with Stormfront.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! but with 3x the RAM. poli Posted October 26, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 26, 2021 If you can, upgrade your internal memory, but also the HD to a Solid State Drive. That will make a huge impact and extends the lifespan of your machine

charlesphoto99 Posted October 26, 2021 Share #8 Posted October 26, 2021 More RAM (32 or 64gb) and an SSD will make a big difference. Stepping up to an M1 with 16gb RAM even bigger difference. Be sure the GPU acceleration in Lightroom is set to off - that can really slow things down.

lucy63 Posted October 26, 2021 Author Share #13 Posted October 26, 2021 I've just been talking with an Apple person for an age, resetting the computer, he felt it should be competent for the task of editing the Q2 files but I've just been into LR and it's as glacial, as before even with this M10 file. SrMi Posted October 30, 2021 Share #15 Posted October 30, 2021 (edited) Upgrade the memory to 16 or 32GB: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201191 Lightroom recommends at least 8GB for 10.15, but at least 16GB for Big Sur. https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/system-requirements.html Edited October 30, 2021 by SrMi

Leica28 Posted October 30, 2021 Share #19 Posted October 30, 2021 No need to change out your internal drive. Just purchase a new SSD drive, make it your boot drive, and save all your files there. 1
