I have the chance to purchase  Leica M Adapter T 18771and I'm getting some mixed info from the internet. My understanding is this Leica mount, is that's it's pre-CL.and has now been re-branded as the Leica M to L mount. My question is, will this mount work on my cl and is this simply an older ,identical version of the Leica M to L mount?

Indeed M-Adapter L and M-Adapter T are the same adapter with the same code number (18771) and different colors AFAIK. Black for both adapters and silver for the M-Adapter L.

The M-Adapter-T was introduced when the Leica T was new and the mount wasn't named officially yet, it was being called "T-mount". Leica named the lens mount "L-mount" after the introduction of the Leica SL, and renamed the mount adapter to suit. That's all. Mine says "M-Adapter-T" on it because I ordered it when the Leica SL had been announced, a month or two before it was released. :)

The reason for the name change to L-mount is that T-mount was/is an already accepted multi-format lens mounting system that has been around for 50 years or more. ;)

The M-Adapter-T is identical to the M-Adapter-L in every way but the engraved name.
