It took several visits of the lake, where this bird is located, to get this image. I was i lying on a jetty in camouflage dress waiting for him. Finally he came sitting on a branch - 5m off. I will get back there and try to shoot more images of the kingfisher.

I thought you must have been close!  I admire your patience and am sure you looked very bird-like in camouflage!  I await patiently further pictures of the kingfisher.

Taking wildlife images is a bit like fishing....waiting for a fish/bird. I enjoy being in nature. So, it's not waiting....it's enjoying the silence and the sounds of the forrest.

This is not true, high resolution displays are perfectly suitable for photo editing, in fact much better than lower resolution ones. However, if you work on 2k display and sharpen picture on it, it will look over sharpened on higher resolution display, this is expected and normal. Another thing is they way people reduce picture size, often with additional sharpening on low res display, but this is another topic for discussion.

I was startled by the brief discussion here about 4K screens showing images made on a 2 K screen as over sharp. I am not a fan of over sharpening however I work on a 2560 x 1440 Eizo screen. I have another 3200 x 1800  screen next to the Ezio. I was checking my images for over sharpening because if I wasn't going to "like" an image on the Forum, it would be for its over sharp look. I am sure there are many others that would feel the same here. My images and some others using long lenses seemed very okay however a couple of my M10M street images were a touch "un natural" or over sharp. I am a bit varied though and many of my images are not natural at all but I am endeavouring to get recent bird and landscape images looking natural. So this was an interesting discussion about monitors and image sharpness. Recently I have been using the Denoise in Lightroom and or adding a touch of sharpening at the end, in camera raw.

I was sitting in a wooden hut waiting for action. Nothing happened. When I started an app faking bird singing, the yellowhammer came! YES! Then I could shoot him!

I've taken this image a view hours ago, sitting at the lake, playing kingfisher's singing by Smartphone. But it took a long time until the kingfisher came along and sat down not too far away from me.

Hi everyone, first post on this forum and I have just purchased a Sigma 150-600 Sports lens. This was one from a few test shots and was taken at 600 mm with a Panasonic S5 Mark II.

I have yet to try tracking with this combination, so we'll see how we go next.

Tony.

In my experience tracking is not overly impressive. A dot sight works better.

I'm going to be testing over the next couple of days so I will bear that in mind. Thank you for the advice.

The lens is clearly more sharp when used with Electronic Shutter. Don't forget  to adjust it to you your requirements using the USB Dock.
