A trick I learned and used regularly was to have someone outside the frame hold a tree branch in front of the offending wires. Wouldn't have worked in your photo. It's getting increasingly difficult to take these obstructions out because, as you pointed out, they are all over the place. It's not hard to remove them when they're against sky or a solid background. The ones that take a lot of time are wires that run in front of trees, as in the above photo.
