Hi there,

Soon to receive my new Leica Q2 here in the UK, very much looking forward to the camera, moving up from the very good Fuji X-Pro system which
I've used for a number of years now.

I'm going to buy a decent half case (the Leica Q2 deserves it) and would like to ask forum members what cases they would recommend? I can get the
Leica leather half-case at the time of purchase, but one thing that worries me with this is that the case does not go to the top of the camera (like some
other cases offer) and could scratch the corner of the top plate, near the strap lugs.

Finally, are there any other essential Leica accessories I should get with the camera, apart from Batteries as I plan to purchase a spare.

Thanks for any advice,

Nick

Congrats on the purchase, you will enjoy it, I certainly do. It is a breath of fresh air to use compared to the Fuji. I also moved from Fuji (I had an X-T3 and X100F) to a Q2 approx four months ago. Here are a list of things I bought at the time of purchase and useage:

Leica Q2 Protector (half case) - used for 30 mins now back in the box.

Leica Q2 Thumb grip - permanent fixture on the Q2.

Leica Q2 Hand grip - also a permanent fixture on the Q2.

JJC HG-Q2 Hand grip - used for 5 mins but did not like the height of the grip part - although it does have a built in arca-swiss mount.

Leica Double Rope Strap (by Cooph) - used for 5 mins but decided I did not like the metal rings and so switched to a:

Peak Design Leash - used for the last couple of month but now switched to the:

Peal Design Cuff - in the bag but not attached to the Q2 yet (only needs one attachment point to the Q2).

Leica Q2 49mm UV filter - I would prefer to not lose the Q2 lens cap and so have this permanently on the Q2 with the cap left in the bag for when not using the camera (lens hood is on the lens)

Nitecore Battery charger - great for travel, although the USB cord is far too short. I use the Leica charger at home.

Leica Q2 spare battery - essential for travel and a day or two away from a charger (my Q2 appears to slowly drain the battery when not being used, albeit switched off)

Hopefully this would help but suggest have the camera for a week or two to see how you get on before ordering everything!

PS I note on the Fuji X forum there are a few people switching to / adding a Q2  / Q2M to their arsenal. Are you a member there too?

Thanks for the info Marc, really appreciate you taking the time to go through the accessories. Interesting that you only used the half case a short while. For the X-Pro2 it was
a permanent fixture on the body.

No, I'll check the X- Forum too, cheers again!!!

No problem. The issue for me with the half case was that it did not help with holding the camera and I prefer to stop the falls rather than protect after the fall. The Artedimano case recommended above has a small grip built into the case which should help. Some others do too, but for me the grips and cuff were more important.

Resistance is futile - just buy an Arte Di Mano.

In Rally Volpe leather.

With a matching strap.

Therein lies the path to Nirvana.  😊

This is the truth. And the OP can get the one without the battery door if they want it to wrap at the top for extra protection (although no easy-access to battery/SD card).

However I have found due to how well they are made (metal inserts and high-quality leather), their cases really do make the camera bigger than I prefer. I always go back to the Leica Protector Case since it's still stiff with some sort of inserts between the leather, but the leather is thin enough that the final size is not much increased. Further, the Leica Protector gets more grippy the more it is used, changing from matte black to a surface with a varied sheen. I had one on my original Q, and it wore in beautifully. Anyway, I alternate between that and the Leica Q2 Hand Grip.

But do put something on it – the texture (or lack thereof) of the Q2 paint is vile, IMO. I hate it – feels so cheap. I was spoiled by the Q-P, and the minute a Q2-P is released, mine will get traded in.

Switched from Fuji XT-3/4 and assortment of lenses to Q2 last week.  Enjoying it very much.  As far as accessories, so far I added a spare battery and bought another Peak Design Slide "light".  The regular one is almost 2 inches wide compared to the "light" just over 1 inch.
