I have been using A7R2/ R3 / M3 thin mod cameras for more than six years.

I have used many Leica original or Zeiss, Sony FE lenses...

After the thinning of the Sony body, the edge of the image improved.

Even a 35/50mm lens can be more high definition, sharp image, reduce the sense of fog.

If you use the Sony body + Leica lens and feel disappointed, you may be after the thinning you will love ...

The article has a large number of photos to illustrate ... Let the pictures speak for themselves!

Leica 50AA, 11663, 11874, 21/3.4SE, 28lux, Noct v2/v4, 50ASPH, 90E55, 90/2.8E46 ... Contax G16/G21/G28/G35/G45 ....

A great article, thanks. Be interesting to see if the rumoured BSI sensor in upcoming M11 does as well as this. Meanwhile I'll amuse myself by imagining what my old M240 would have done with both the auto White Balance and Reds in your two sample images above.

Have had some luck with adapted lenses on Nikon Z7, but a modded Sony takes the cake.

How does the Leica 35/2.0 ASPH version I perform on the modified Sony cameras? This lens was a no-go on my unconverted (original) A7R at the time with always unsharp corners and focus shift in the center image independent on the used aperture whereas its predecessor - the pre-ASPH version - works perfectly fine here.

Bit softer on corners at f/2 perhaps but i would have to do side by side comparos to be sure.

Not ideal but much better than how it performed on the original A7R!

it seems that your thin mod camera needed to add UVIR cut filter, AWB tend to be a little bit red

Just color shift due to the thin filter. Easy to tweak in PP but i never tried UV/IR filters so far.

Hi Sam, Thanks for sharing this interesting solution. I'm quited interested.

I wonder After the mod, does it still works well with other sony native lens? Any negagive impact on that?

And finally, how much would this cost? I have an old a7r2 that might be suitable for this.
