AceVentura1986 Posted July 15, 2021 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey, all. Just got my (new to me) M3 back from DAG yesterday and took it out for a spin w my 50 Cron. I really want a permanent lens on the M3 and don’t want to constantly dismount my 50 Cron from my M9M so I started thinking of a 40mm instead. The Minoltas are still fairly inexpensive and are supposedly fairly good, esp the second Gen series. Any thoughts on this? I imagine a 40mm would fill the entire VF. lct Posted July 15, 2021 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2021 Yes better pick a Rokkor 40/2 v2 for Minolta CLE (not CL). The whole VF will work fine for framing but 50mm frame lines will stay visible if you don't mask the illumination window. oldwino Posted July 16, 2021 Share #3 Posted July 16, 2021 I really enjoy using my M-Rokkor (CLE version) on my M2.
a.noctilux Posted July 18, 2021 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2021 M3 with 40mm, why not ... I never mounted 40mm on any of my M3, so out of curiosity, I made some simulations. Comparing the M3 VF field with my CLE at "40 framelines", strange hardly more field in CLE 40. Having the CLE manual, page 42 the explanation came "field of view : 85% at 3m with 40mm lens". In my view, the CLE is more comfort with 40mm lens than M3 "whole view VF", when I hide the 50mm framelines, I was lost 🤥. 😉 I know now, why I never mounted the nice Minolta 40mm on M3.
tommonego@gmail.com Posted July 18, 2021 Share #5 Posted July 18, 2021 I have a 40mm Voigtlander f1.4 Nokton which works well on my M3, it has been filed so I get the 35 frame (my M3 has a 35,50,90,135 finder), came that way. I do use my 35 Summilux pre asph more.
