It's 'autofocus'.

Well, it's actually "pan-focus" - everything is focused (or more critically, unfocused) equally.

Not that that is necessarily a bad thing. On my "road to Leica M," I bought a Voigtlander Bessa-L with the scale-focus 15mm f/4.5 v.1 in 1999. Set to f/8 and 2 meters, it was effectively a "pan-focus" lens.

It was 1) liberating and fun, and really persuaded me I could happily work with a "window" rather than a "screen." But 2) rather quickly became just a "one-trick pony," especially when the light started to fade. I did keep it through the M8 era, as a compact 20mm-equivalent (the M8 cropped off its "Italian Flag" stains on digital)

"Oldest = best?" Only on a Leica forum, dear boy. ;)

Then again, "It's all about the Mandler/Karbe.....hole?"  That somehow doesn't have the same ring to it.

Both: Fuji Velvia 50, 15mm Voigtlander Super-Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 at f/8, 1/125th sec. Voigtlander Bessa-L,1999.
