fotografr Posted April 14, 2021 Share #1 Â Posted April 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm wondering if anyone has tried the 50mm Summilux ASPH on a Sony A7rIV and, if so, what the results have been like? Thanks, Brent
Advertisement Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Hi fotografr, Take a look here 50mm Summilux ASPH on Sony A7rIV. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tgray Posted April 15, 2021 Share #2  Posted April 15, 2021 I didn’t think it was particularly good on the A7rII. I mean, center is fine but the corners are smeared. I ended up getting a Zeiss Loxia 50/2 which I enjoyed a lot more.  There are more Voigtlanders now at 50mm; I might have gotten one of those instead of the Loxia.

Decimusmaximus7 Posted April 15, 2021 Share #4  Posted April 15, 2021 This is true with other M lenses on the Sony as well. Most focal lengths below 50mm do not work well. Some 50mms seem to be ok, while others are still better on a Leica than a Sony, such as the Voightlander 50mm f/1.5 II.
tgray Posted April 15, 2021 Share #5 Â Posted April 15, 2021 Agreed. Â My 90s are fine. Â Many 50s are fine, but the 50 ASPH Summilux is poor in the corners. Â I bet Planar/double Gaussian 50s do better, but I don't have one to test. My Sony A7rII is great and I'm sure the newer ones are even better. Â For me, I prefer native manual focus lenses on it and use my M lenses on M cameras (which I like more than the Sony). That being said, there are plenty of people who like the 50 ASPH on Sony, shoot it wide open for portraits, and don't care about the corners.
lct Posted April 16, 2021 Share #6 Â Posted April 16, 2021 Superb on the Kolari mod A7r2. I know it is not your question but just FYI.
