Danner Posted April 14, 2021 Share #1  Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a minty M6 in 2017 for about US$1300.  Seemed like a good price at the time, and looks even better today. Now, I'm looking at a second minty M6 and the seller is asking US$2300.  A guess that's the current market? This has me wondering if the price run-up has been Covid related, and whether values will drop in the used market after Covid, or, if the prices will continue to escalate? Please check your crystal ball and let me know what you think? Edited April 14, 2021 by Danner
Advertisement Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Hi Danner, Take a look here M6 Prices and Values?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted April 14, 2021 Share #2  Posted April 14, 2021 I see in my cristal ball : - if Leica Camera release the new M at 3,500 €/USD, the price of old sh M6/MP/Mx would be  a - likely stable if the rising price (MP only) doesn't reach the new M price  b - M6 would gain less interest, so price will decrease  c - older M would be stable as usual, or a bit increasing  - if Leica Camera do not offer new less expensive M , well we will know in some months  while waiting, the sh M market will somewhat rising while people "gain" more money
Danner Posted April 14, 2021 Author Share #3 Â Posted April 14, 2021 Thanks for your thoughts. Â Is there really any chance of the new, lower cost, M? Â Doesn't seem very likely to me...
logan2z Posted April 14, 2021 Share #4  Posted April 14, 2021 Given what I've seen lately, $2300 is cheap for a mint M6. Most I've seen have been over $3K.

I've seen a big increase in m6 for sale recently which seems to have stabilized or even pushed down prices ever so slightly. Like anything else, I think it'll just depend on supply and demand - dependent on popularity of film in general more so than anything else. Danner Posted April 14, 2021 Author Share #6  Posted April 14, 2021 Whelp, the deal is done, looking forward to a second body with one black and one chrome 🙂 I'm thinking 100 ISO in the chrome body and 400 ISO in the black body.

Sounds like a good plan. I like to go one b+w and the other color neg or slide. Most importantly, have fun!

Danner Posted April 16, 2021 Author Share #11  Posted April 16, 2021 I've already got a v5 50 'cron on the black body, and thinking the new chrome body will get my near-mint 1953 Summitar, for the full vintage experience :-)  BTW, I have been watching a lot of M6 buy/sell transactions lately, and US$2300 seems to be the approximate going-rate. Â Same for the 0.58 version.
