dgc Posted April 4, 2021 Share #1  Posted April 4, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have attempted a search for this topic and apologies if it has already been asked and answered. Has anybody used a M Mount lens on their TL/ CL and then used a TL lens and thought the TL lens is better ? In particular the 35mm focal length, I have 35mm M Summicron v4. Advertisement Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Hi dgc, Take a look here TL2 with M Mount or TL lenses ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted April 4, 2021 Share #2  Posted April 4, 2021 Your M 35/2 v4 will be much smaller. Here a TL 35/1.4 compared to an M 35/2.5 which has a similar size as your 35/2 v4. The later works fine on the CL but i have no experience with the TL lens sorry. Now manual focusing can be hit and miss w/o EVF so i could be tempted by an AF lens if it were smaller i guess. Otherwise the performances of the TL 35/1.4 are stellar with more acutance than the 35/2 v4 hence a more "modern" rendition but less character perhaps. Matter of tastes as usual. If i were in your shoes i would use the 35/2 v4 you already have and decide afterwards but it's just me. Hope this helps a bit. Welcome, dear visitor! Define "better". Different might be a more appropriate word.
dgc Posted April 4, 2021 Author Share #4  Posted April 4, 2021 Define 'Better' - I think I mean is it worth carrying an additional lens in the TL Summilux - are the images wow! compared to a 35mm f2 ? But then the picture of the lenses side-by-side has probably made my mind up ! Thanks for this.
tommonego@gmail.com Posted April 4, 2021 Share #5 Â Posted April 4, 2021 I think I would go for your Summicron, just for the size. While the TL 35 Summilux is reputed to be a spectacular lens, the size to me is a non starter. Your 35 Summicron is no sloutch either. Use it for a while see what you think. I decided just not to use a 35 much on the CL, I just don't get along with 50ish equivalent on a camera. I use the TL 23 Summicron and the 11-23 zoom, both are excellent, then I have longer lenses.
Torpille Posted April 5, 2021 Share #6  Posted April 5, 2021 (edited) The TL 35 is a great lens, but not very fast. It’s too heavy/big  for the TL2 or the CL. I will go for the summicron-m 35mm or much better the TL 23mm. (the summicron-m 35 with adapter is heavy too) for fast shooting @ f/2 are the M lenses not the best with TL series      Edited April 5, 2021 by Torpille

jaapv Posted April 6, 2021 Share #9 Â Posted April 6, 2021 Just use the Visoflex. Manual focus is just as effective as AF. It just needs a bit of practice.
Kim Dahl Posted April 6, 2021 Share #10 Â Posted April 6, 2021 It's different from person to person, I think. I have TL2 and visoflex because I wanted to use my M optics for TL2. But I do it very rarely. I would not advise to buy a TL2 and adapter only for use with M optics. It has not worked for me. CL I think is better.
