Your second was arguing repeatedly against the forum members who actually own/use/have bought this lens and then making patently inaccurate statements like this:

Leica no longer nor has made the silver version of the 50 1.4 in brass and has not for now quite a few years.

I don't see it's remotely relevant to this particular forum discussion how many lenses you own or how many negatives you've taken - nobody even implied that your were a 'newbie'  - and FWIW there is only one person "talking like a child" here.

I am on the older side and I had not participated in these on line forums until recently as my son had cautioned me that some of these can be a bit off putting and he was right, enjoy yourself but I will no longer participate here, enjoy insulting each other. By the way, I was simply sharing that I have a fair amount of experience with Leica over the years, nothing more, and I was not arguing with members who owned lenses I simply stated what Leica advertises.

for the record, I for one, don’t want any forum members to leave which includes you. I think your son is right that forums can be challenging and thick skin is surely required.

But, Before declaring a lens out of production to a highly trafficked forum and pushing back quite hard, you should consider asking Leica and if not, probably take other members feedback.

Also, Leica doesn’t have all of their products listed on the corporate site, just a FYI.

Anyway, stick it out and you’ll find the L forum is 99% very friendly.

Back to the OPs topic

I can’t recall any recent Leica special where the upcharge for the limited release version of a regular product has been so transparently for the collector/investor only. Notwithstanding the “Last 100 series” f1.0 50 Noctilux - a standard production Noct in its rather ridiculous humidor - there is usually a much smaller premium cf the Silver (anodised 😉) 28 Lux or similar recent 75 APO.

Forums reside on the lower side of the communication spectrum, however it should be noted to never bring feelings along to one. Things get wrapped around the axle, we talk in circles, and repeat the same dumb entrenched opinions like we were fighting for a silly 75 yards in WWI.

But we all are drawn here for some reason, and it’s usually a good reason; to learn about these little magic boxes that make pictures, and in doing so we one day will make a few good images ourselves.

You shouldn’t leave. Besides, who is going to argue with me about the Noctilux 1.2 being in focus or not?? At least wait till I get my copy so you can say, “I told you so!” Till then... I’m still waiting to be humored. Ha ha. Just kidding.
