Malcolm Kays Posted February 10, 2022 Share #523 Posted February 10, 2022 The lens hood from the 21mm/f3.4 also fit and makes using filters on the M10M much easier.

I do not understand this. Someone wrote, even the hood of the 21mm 3,4 will fit on the APO-Summicron… But both, the 35mm 2,4 and the 21mm 3,4 have a Filter-Size of 46mm. And the APO 35 has 39mm. So, what is my misunderstanding? To make a long question short: Is the Hood-Screw-Thread of these three lenses exactly the same while the Filter-Thread is different? My APO arrives next week and I would like to change the hood to walk arround more understate.
wlaidlaw Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM Share #528 Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM The 35 APO Summicron-M uses a male thread on the outside of the lens for its standard lens hood. This is a proprietary thread pitch with a hard end stop. It also has an internal female thread for filters of E39mm. I had hoped that Polar Pro would do a flip up magnetic lens hood like the one they do for my Q3-28. For someone with very arthritic and non-bendy fingers like me, you always have to remove the 35APO lens hood to fit a filter and rotating a polaroid filter is next to impossible, with the hood mounted. Polar Pro told me last year that no magnetic hood for the 35 APO was planned. Some folks have had problems with loose caps on both the 50 and 35 APO lenses and they are very expensive to replace. So far my 35 APO hood seems to stay firmly in place. Wilson 1
graphlex Posted yesterday at 04:48 AM Share #529 Posted yesterday at 04:48 AM Cap for this lens is useless. It falls off if you point the camera downward. My dealer agrees. Triumph of sleekness over function.

There is hardly any difference in volume or ‘state’ with or without the hood and without it the lens is rather vulnerable for dust, fingerprints or scratches. The only pain in the ass of the APO35 is the metal cap, which causes a bit damage on the hood and it falls off quite easily which causes damage to the cap itself. So, I hardly use the cap and have put a Leitz UVa or CR 1.5 filter as a protection against dust. Edited yesterday at 06:32 AM by otto.f

As can already be seen here with photos. And you can use the Otect Caps on the lens hood of the Summilux 35 and SEM. The lens hood of the Summicron 28 (without CF) is another option Topic #8 onwards
wlaidlaw Posted 18 hours ago Share #532 Posted 18 hours ago I dislike the very bulky original hood on the 28mm ASPH Summicron. I use a titanium E46 Contax G1 hood and titanium lens cap, which far less bulky. Wilson
