When will we get the awesome perspective control feature with Leica Q2/CL/SL2 and older Q/SL cameras ?
It is a feature way more suited for mirrorless cameras than for rangefinder ones.

They all have the required spirit level. They already permanently in live view. And they all use the same Maestro II or better Maestro III image processor.

Q2 being a 28mm camera can greatly benefits from it.

Perspective control, is this aspect ratio?

It is the new feature that was launched for M10 cameras. More details to be found in the M10 forums. It is cool, and I would also like to have it on Q2/SL2.

Because the genius of Leica’s perspective control is to used the camera spirit level !

No need for photo editors to guess the real level with straight lines in the picture. So it also works with curves.
You can preview the crop section. Sometimes if you frame the picture too tight, Lightroom can crop off a part of your subject.

Thank you, It was not clear to me what “perspective control” was. Now I know.

Well, if subject is big, then i usualy just step one step back and crop later on the pc, perspective control or not.

Why not just adjust it in processing? And have finer control?

Exactly!
I find composition control on the "tiny" screen rather difficult and most of pro photographers as well and this is the reason for tethered shooting.
Leica gave us FOTOS to be able to do that on a android or ios device, adding windows and macOS app would make it perfect for studio work.

Agree completely. I do not like using in camera tools such as perspective or even panorama. I’d rather view the image(s) on a large monitor then use a powerful processor to realize the final image.

One of the beauties of Leica is their simplicity and ergonomics. Every feature added beyond the basics complicates the menu system and takes away from the genius Leica brings to the market. Less is more!!

My guess is that most shooting with Q2 (this forum is Q2) is handheld, not tethered or using Fotos app .

Correct! That is why i don't find in-camera perspective control very useful.
Using a big Tablet it would make sometimes sense, but to see it on the EVF or screen it's not too useful for my use.
At least for me it works better to frame a bit more and crop it later down to the size i like to have.

Have you given it a try? IMO, it works quite well with Visoflex Typ 020. The superimposed frame is an approximation, a bit similar to a leveler you can see in cameras. It is very helpful for framing. The important thing is that the angles are recorded in the DNG to have a good starting point in the post.

To all the sceptics - perspective control doesn't do any image processing. It does two things, one of which can't be done any other way:

- It works out the best perspective correction, and feeds this with the raw image to Lightroom, which then makes the correction (which you can adjust if you wish).

- It shows you what will be included within your frame if you go with the perspective correction in Lightroom. This would be very useful so that you know how far back to step, and stops you eyeballing it in  in the EVF and getting it wrong (as I often do).
