chris_tribble Posted February 3, 2021 Share #3  Posted February 3, 2021 It would make more sense on the SL2. However good the WATE was on the M, I never enjoyed the experience of working with it on a rangefinder camera.
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 3, 2021 Share #4  Posted February 3, 2021 If Leica were a bit more open about the electronics in their cameras we would know if it is easy to move this feature to the L-mount cameras. The M10s use a Maestro II processor while the SL2s use a Maestro III, which should be even bette, But it may be that only the image pipeline is calculated on the maestro, while some other signal processor or FPGA manages the viewfinder information and calculates stuff like histograms and level indicators. Certainly the level indicator in an SL doesn't look like the one in the M10-P or R. If the program that makes this happen runs on the Maestro, then it would work better on an L-mount than it does on an M10, simply because the processor is more powerful. an M10-R seems to be working pretty hard to generate the PC frame lines, which float about somewhat sluggishly when the light levels are low.
