It's a lens firmware upgrade, found at https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-SL/Leica-SL2-S/Downloads .  You install it like any firmware update, using an SL, SL2 or SL2-S.  The instruction to set the range of angular motion that give full range of focus movement are found on the SL2 and SL2-S under Focusing > MF setup.

Thank you.

Further to Scott's message above, the FW download is the last one at the bottom of the page he's linked.

Once you've installed the FW on the SL2 go to:  Main Menu Pg.1 Focusing >  MF SET UP > you'll see the various turning degree options 90•  120• 150• ........

Thank you.

Interesting that the lens update is only on the SL2-S page.

Looks like a great update.

Much appreciated.

👍  it's a very useful update.

As mentioned in another thread,  it's rather sloppy of Leica to do this, as this lens FW update is not SL2S specific. So much for their meticulous attention to detail & all the  marketing hyperbole.....

Update on the 28-70:

I spoke to my friend at Leica this morning. He still says this is the next lens coming out along side the SL28.

It will have a constant aperture for better video use. It will be about half the size of the 24-90.

I will NOT be stabilised and rely on the SL2 and SL2S IBIS.

And........ it will likely be delayed to the spring. Planned in January at first, he now expects a little delay.

@Jeff, he doesn't know if it is a retractable lens or not but based on similar offerings from Leica and other manufacturers, he strongly believes it will be.

Anything about the price ? Higher or lower than the 24-90 ?

I hoped for a smaller zoom from the beginning (since 2016), so for me this is a good strategy. But if the price is very high then I simply can not afford it in this crisis.
