jrp Posted December 5, 2020 Share #21 Posted December 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes, indeed. These lenses seem decent, perhaps on a par with the Panasonic f1.8s? The main difference between these and the Summicrons seem to be the APO / CA performance, which will not be noticeable other than in bare tree branches against the sky, wide open, probably not a typical use case. There will also be some difference in how the lenses draw, the 45mm being the most distinctive from other moderns lenses. Otherwise, the weight and bulk may be the most practical difference between the different lines. But I agree, the main gap is in the wider lenses (24+21). Judging by the order in which these ranges are rolling out, they are not the most popular focal lengths.

That might have been an argument, If all camera/lens producers would use the same parts, contractors, subcontractors, production machines, service companies, etc, in the same country/city at the same time. But, obviously, they don't.
Simone_DF Posted December 6, 2020 Share #24 Posted December 6, 2020 A quick review of the Sigma 35, with a direct comparison to the Summicron APO. He also talks about the 24mm. 2
RBB Posted December 19, 2020 Share #25 Posted December 19, 2020 I will certainly test the 35mm in januari. I really would like to have a small light weight 35mm lens (autofocus) to carry in a pocket.
P1505 Posted January 26, 2021 Share #26 Posted January 26, 2021 24 is an insta buy for me. Craving a wide lens that doesn’t have the vignette and colour issues the 21 Voigtlander gives me.
P1505 Posted January 28, 2021 Share #27 Posted January 28, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) The 24 arrived. Tiny little thing, very well made, focus is fast. Will take it out tomorrow and post some shots. The 85 arrived with the box torn open so that’s fine back for a new one.
Ivar B Posted January 29, 2021 Share #28 Posted January 29, 2021 I am impressed by Sigmas ability to deliver very good lenses at reasonable cost. The CEO also promised some exciting new lenses in 2021. My hope would be a fast long telephoto. What about a 4/400?
P1505 Posted January 30, 2021 Share #29 Posted January 30, 2021 Face identification on the 24 seems poor on the SL601. Is fine on the 45 DG DN.
P1505 Posted January 31, 2021 Share #30 Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) I have nothing to post image wise but the autofocus in the 24 is very fast with the SL 601, and it’s sharp. I don’t seemingly have good hand held technique which is fine I don’t pixel peep, but I can see it’s sharp. It’s been too foggy to get anything to share so people can see. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe I need a tripod Edited January 31, 2021 by P1505

I sometimes shoot with a 35mm f1.4 lens on a micro four thirds camera with straight adapter, giving a 70mm equivalent. It is a surprisingly pleasing focal length for portraits, and I enjoy it a lot for video work. I imagine that a 65mm f2 lens on a full frame camera would have similar and perhaps even better properties.
Daniel C.1975 Posted March 8, 2021 Share #32 Posted March 8, 2021 (edited) Hi, got the 24.3.5 as a gap-filler until the summicron-SL 24 is out and ... hmm ... it is just a really good lens. Feels great, looks great on the SL2-s, focus is SUPER-fast, absolutely silent and the IQ is much better than I've expected. It is definitely far more than just a gap-filler - that would be an unfair statement for this lens. It is definitely very sharp, and yes, it draws a bit different than the apo-summicron-sl - but for this estimation I need some more time as also opportunity to use the lens. For now I am impressed by the price-performance-ratio. Yes, it is not very bright, which for sure helps in that department, but still, a very good deal. I forgot: It is also very light and compact First snapshots: Welcome, dear visitor! Dennis Posted March 9, 2021 Share #40 Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) Maybe a few years ago, I did not see the point of using such a camera as the SL is without native SL lenses. Nowadays, everything has changed. It makes total sense to get an SL2-S with only the new contemporary trio: 24/3.5 + 35/2 + 65/2. I don't usually shoot less than f/2, and my favorite and most used lens on DSLR are 35 and 58. The Leica purists will think I'm crazy. And yes, I'm mad, maybe, but it totally makes sense for me 😆 I'm with Leica (M) because of the RF system, not the lenses. And I love the M-mount lenses too. But the RF is what got me. So I think that the SL2-S is a fantastic camera, and you can thoroughly enjoy it with Sigma lenses. Edited March 9, 2021 by Dennis
