Yes, indeed. These lenses seem decent, perhaps on a par with the Panasonic f1.8s?   The main difference between these and the Summicrons seem to be the APO / CA performance, which will not be noticeable other than in bare tree branches against the sky, wide open, probably not a typical use case.  There will also be some difference in how the lenses draw, the 45mm being the most distinctive from other moderns lenses.  Otherwise, the weight and bulk may be the most practical difference between the different lines.

But I agree, the main gap is in the wider lenses (24+21).  Judging by the order in which these ranges are rolling out, they are not the most popular focal lengths.

Does not seem to have affected Sigma’s ability to deliver, or others.

That might have been an argument, If all camera/lens producers would use the same parts, contractors, subcontractors, production machines, service companies, etc, in the same country/city at the same time. But, obviously, they don't.

I am impressed by Sigmas ability to deliver very good lenses at reasonable cost. The CEO also promised some exciting new lenses in 2021. My hope would be a fast long telephoto. What about a 4/400?

I have nothing to post image wise but the autofocus in the 24 is very fast with the SL 601, and it’s sharp. I don’t seemingly have good hand held technique which is fine I don’t pixel peep, but I can see it’s sharp. It’s been too foggy to get anything to share so people can see. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe I need a tripod :)

What can be used a 2/65mm (instead of 50mm) ? I can't see the target well...

I sometimes shoot with a 35mm f1.4 lens on a micro four thirds camera with straight adapter, giving a 70mm equivalent. It is a surprisingly pleasing focal length for portraits, and I enjoy it a lot for video work. I imagine that a 65mm f2 lens on a full frame camera would have similar and perhaps even better properties.

Hi,

got the 24.3.5 as a gap-filler until the summicron-SL 24 is out and ... hmm ... it is just a really good lens. Feels great, looks great on the SL2-s, focus is SUPER-fast, absolutely silent and the IQ is much  better than I've expected. It is definitely far more than just a gap-filler - that would be an unfair statement for this lens.

It is definitely very sharp, and yes, it draws a bit different than the apo-summicron-sl - but for this estimation I need some more time as also opportunity to use the lens.

For now I am impressed by the price-performance-ratio. Yes, it is not very bright, which for sure helps in that department, but still, a very good deal.

I forgot: It is also very light and compact

... and the last one, and yes, she definitely needs a grooming (this was the result of a rough walk :) ) - slightly cropped on top and bottom

Maybe a few years ago, I did not see the point of using such a camera as the SL is without native SL lenses. Nowadays, everything has changed. It makes total sense to get an SL2-S with only the new contemporary trio: 24/3.5 + 35/2 + 65/2. I don't usually shoot less than f/2, and my favorite and most used lens on DSLR are 35 and 58.

The Leica purists will think I'm crazy. And yes, I'm mad, maybe, but it totally makes sense for me 😆 I'm with Leica (M) because of the RF system, not the lenses. And I love the M-mount lenses too. But the RF is what got me. So I think that the SL2-S is a fantastic camera, and you can thoroughly enjoy it with Sigma lenses.
