Pierre, the camera body of your initial post with number 1 has surfaced a few times. In Vidom 115, june 2018 I wrote about those camera's, which were close to the M1 and had serial numbers in a range of M1's. Since they differ on various points from other Leica camera's I called them M camera's without viewfinder.

Hello to all!

I'd like to add here my MD Post Leica. I bought in in Sweden and came without a lens; this camera is a 24X27mm model and does not have any "POST" sticker nor branding.

Took it to my usual camera repairman for a CLA, he told me some interesting stuff about the insides of the camera:
- There's no need for a shutter cable, the button can be pressed to take the photos.
- The shutter speed is screwed into the flash sync (about 1/45), but even if it weren't there's no speed mechanism inside so it will be always fixed.
- As can be seen in the photo, the frame counter goes to 60 but given the framing space and size of the square frame dimensions it would never reach that high number of photos.

I wonder why the counter of the Postkameras was made like this... and seems to me that also the 24x36 Posthameras have a counter that goes beyond the usual one... does anyone has an explanation for this ? My idea is that maybe the postkameras were conceived for some kind of special BW film - thinner than noemal commercial emulsions . which could be accomodated in std. cassettes but with a bigger length...

Hello to all !

I have a 24x27 with serial 1141987 which came with a 28 Summaron 5.6 .

I had it transformed into a usable 24x27 film shooter and with regular 135 film rolls , it can take up to 50 photos , not more .

I also presume they were using thinner film stock to reach the 60 frames count

Best ,

Jean--Marc

Jean-Marc, what did you have to do to "transform" it into a usable camera?  Mine for example needed not any modification at all.
Also, yours is just 10 units before mine! Does it have any "POST" marks?

Here's an example of mine, I was playing with the focusing/framing and took several shots of this same space.I really like the round corners of the photo.

Hello,

I had a lot done , not for the purists !

Now it has a 0,72 M2 rangefinder fitted into a Leica M3 shell and top cover !

🙂

I agree !  The round corners are a nice touch !

There were no post marks,

nor on my second 24x27 body with serial 928974 .

The latter came with a 35 Summaron f3,5 lens.
I had the 28 Summaron f5.6 lens RF coupled in M mount .

Enjoy your 24x27 !!

Best , JM
