What "end" if there is a trend that is, of the 17-55 are you using Louis?

Gary

Dear Gary, this lens is really a very good glass; but I am not using it very often because of the size; and most importantly because I can not control the aperture as it is an AF lens without the aperture ring!

Louis,

Oh, OK, I see. I have looked at many "legacy" lenses, but if it doesn't have an old school aperture ring, I don't bother. The newer Nikkors are like this, all electronic.

It was more, "what focal length are you finding you are using"?

The lens I really love is my 50 mm, f/1.4. It is a very sharp glass with a beautiful shallow background, as it is an old lens with the aperture ring. But as you know, 50 mm means 75 mm on ASP-C; therefore, very hard to use on street. 28 mm is much more convenient for street, but although very sharp, it doesn't give  me the shallow background that I like.

Besides that, I just love the 85 mm, f/1.8 that still is a fantastic lens, but only for portraits for ASP-C sensor.

The 17-55 that I used for the above shots is not really an "old" lens. It was made for modern digital ASP-C Nikon camera. So, without any aperture ring and I have to guess that on the ring on the adapter. But it is huge as you can see in this shot:

Took a few shots today, trying to compare the T and M lenses, to my X-Vario. Thinking was to sell off one of them, assuming I could get this past the CFO. Nope, I can't, and each has it's strengths too.

Old red phone box, with the T, and 50mm Summicron M @f11, ISO100.

Posted a similar shot, albeit colour, in the X-Vario section.

This one a B&W from the Leica T DNG, lens was the 28mm Elmarit M.

Louis ... I REALLY love the glow of the little girl.

John, thank you very much. I am usually not very hot about posting children photos in a forum because I believe this is not a private "family" site, although as a parent, I can understand very well the excitement of parents for their kids. Unless, of course, it is for a "technical" or a "artistic" reason that they wish to share some shots in a photography forum.

But in this case, the child is not mine ( :) ), and because for what you mentioned, I thought it would be interesting to post this shot. Also, because I am in conversation, via private messaging, with another forum member about the Nikkor lenses on T; and therefore, I thought it may be beneficial not only to him, but also to others who may have the same question, to see some samples of this combination!

Thank you again for your kind feedback.

Tony, I like this portrait very much; it has something of a film feeling... Your model is gorgeous too!

Hi Louis, thanks. The model is my wife. I gave her the full beauty treatment, soft filter, low contrast, high key. The original colour file was not particularly flattering, full sun under a orange umbrella. We are both in our mid 60's so the loss of a few decades is always appreciated, especially amongst the ladies. ;-) . Ton.

Lovely picture Louis, did you run that through SilEfex ? Tony.

Hello Martee,

Yes, I did use Silver Efex. I had almost the same case as yours with your gorgeous wife's portrait. The sun was very harsh and the colors were not very appealing. It looks much better in B/W. The child's father is a Nikon photographer who was very interested in T. I was showing him how it works and just took one shot of the child.

Martee, I very much like your landscape above. I love your treatment that works perfect for this shot.

BTW, your wife is gorgeous and you are lucky to have her as your permanent model. Just give me the address of the spa where they are taking care of her!... :D
