You have to be quick to photograph dogs, Stephen. They fidget. I had been taking pictures of flowers in the hedgerow and noticed the dogs waiting for me to finish so that we could resume our walk. I took two snap shots very quickly. The first you’ve seen. Here’s the second. I didn't quite get the focus on the eyes but I like the picture.

Extraordinary clarity of detail in these, Louis! Lovely colours, too.

Thank you very much, Robert. I got this Angenieux zoom with Nikon mount over 25 years ago and with f/2.5, it was the fastest 35-70 mm in those days. It is still working quite nicely when all the conditions are right. ;)
