I have been on Holiday, as they say, for the last two weeks.  San Francisco area plus San Jose Mexico in the  BaHa.  I was able to give my new Leica TL2 a good workout.  I brought only the 18-56 zoom - I didn't anticipate any Telephoto Wildlife opportunities, and 18mm  on a crop sensor is wide enough for most of my shots.  I also have great faith in that lens from my experience with it on the T.

Overall the TL2 did remarkably well.  I had to do only one battery pull to bring it to life and I am convinced I accidently hit or pressed the Lens release button by mistake. I  loosened the lens and then locked it back ,, then changed the battery.

My year long hesitation to buy this camera body was due to all the mishaps and problems many owners experienced.  However  many of the major problems were fixed with a simple firm ware upgrade.

As it turns out the camera works quite well and is a major upgrade fro the original T.  For me, the fact that I had an evf and a nice 1/2 case  made it an easy upgrade.   Plus I know how to use, and actually like the feel, fit to hand, and simple yet powerful interface which I had already mastered on my T.  As I recall, Audi designed the T body, and came up with a really ... what I consider ...   a form-fits-function...  masterpiece.  Enough about the body!

Can it take a decent photo??

I  caught this on the way out the door - hand held at a 30th of a second, f4 @400 ISO, while bent over to catch the area that caught my eye.

TL2, 1/500th, 18-56 @ 56, f4, 100 ISO

I enjoyed working with the raw files from the TL2.

IMO... The Colors are real good, the exposure latitude is very wide -  good both for light and color. The 25% increase in resolution that the TL2 provides over the T gives me the ability  to crop 100% and still have a very useable photo. That is the main  reason I switched from T to TL2.

Hope you had a great holiday and welcome back. Seems like most of the regulars have defected to the CL forum!

I too have recently upgraded to TL2 - having decided that the CL is not for me.

Great eye to see that abstract pattern in the pavement!

Cheers,

Wonderful shot. Did you use your polarizing filter?

BTW, I always thought 18-56 is very underrated. I agree it is slow, but it is an excellent glass that gives very sharp images with beautiful color rendering.

Beautiful capture. Is this in Cabo?

DGP,

Yes - 'Posdada Real'  San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Louis,  I don't think  I used a polarizer - the air was very clear down there, so no need for a polarizer.

Leica TL2 35mm T Lens

Well look what Santa eventually brought to Thailand. Camera was bought in Florida brand new on Christmas day from the Lovely Peter Lorber who has the Hasselblad dealership in Boca Raton Florida. The camera was then shipped to a Forum Member (David Simons) who I have never met and he and his lovely wife hand carried it to Phuket Thailand where I eventually took position of it.............

Some may say I am crazy, others may be flabbergasted, but it just goes to show that there are honest people in the world doesn't it.

Thanks

Somchai
