Rick - might that be Bar Harbor or Portland? That's a beautiful part of the world, wherever it specifically is along that coast, and you always present it very nicely in your photos!

Oops -I just saw your earlier remark above. We cruised up the coast in June with my grandson, and I got wonderful shots with the T and that same lens.

Looking down the street ..I am fortunate to live on the Coast of Maine. Now Cruise ships even come to visit the area. Leica T with 18-56 - and polarizer.

Vikas,

I live in Owls Head, just South of Rockland, Maine. Belfast is 35 minutes North, Portland an hour and a half South by car.

Rick

Thanks Rick. I was just curious. Our daughter in law is a Mainer. My wife and I have been thinking of buying a place along the coast that the family can spend some time in each year.

They got married at a sea-from place near Portland and we drove along the coast there. Beautiful and it seems to get prettier the further you go from the city.

"Bug" photography with the TL2, 180mm f/2.8 APO-Elmarit-R + APO-Extender-R 1.4X and 2X stacked . . .

Kids, don't try this at home!  While this combo (~760mm AOV on crop sensor) works nicely on the SL, the TL2 magnifies an otherwise minor error that renders a type of fringing on certain contrasting edges that Lightroom cannot mitigate.

This in turn causes certain textures, such as bird feathers, to render with muddied details--unfortunate as it diminishes the amazing sharpness of this unlikely combination, which can be comfortably shot hand-held in good light.

Just trying to get my head around your comment Rob.

You're saying the 180 etc combo is fine with the SL, but not with the TL2, correct?

Why? AA filter missing perhaps? Can't think of anything else.

The SL cropped to the same APS size shows it?

I sometimes use, (and in the future plan to use it more), my T on my astro scopes, and the focal lengths are anything from wide at about 400mm, to longer at 1250mm plus.

Not on bird-life though, to be fair.

Bugs, definitely not.

It's easier to show what I mean, Gary, than to try to explain it . . .

First, here's a whole frame in which the fringe occurs.

And here's a small crop magnified to show the error.

Compared to the SL, the TL2 uses the center of the image circle, and it seems that this magnification makes a significant difference on certain contrasting edges, but not on all . . .

Rob, just out of curiosity, could you please post a shot of TL2 with 24-90 on!

Here you go: The T with the 60 2.8 macro and the TL 2 w the 24-90 VE

The TL2 is identical in size to the T.

The combination of the 24-90 on the T is a much lighter package than on the SL.
