Thanks Gary … would work fine if the TL2 had a built-in EVF; the TL2's accessory shoe is needed for the VISO finder.  Next time the lenses are coupled with the TL2 will use a Jobo gimbal mount to support the combination which enables much easier focusing and composition …but it's quite heavy to carry … it's a long walk to the hide down a steep incline and even with a trolley is hard work climbing back up to the reserve entrance.

Best wishes

Oh, forgot about the shoe already being occupied Dunk, sorry.

Maybe a bracket from the camera base, using the tripod screw, even if the camera was mounted on a tripod via this screw. I thin metal bracket, bent to shape to fit under the base, up the rear past the screen, and then over the top to position above the release button? Just a thought.

Thanks Gary … I already have one of these http://srb-photographic.co.uk/shutter-releases-1461-c.aspsomewhere … and when found will try and harness it to the TL2. But I'll likely prefer the tactile connection between my finger and the shutter release when the camera and lens is supported / balanced by a gimbal.

Best wishes

Thanks, Louis.

The R 80 1.4 is special. And with all the tropical rain here lately, everything is looking nice.

Rob

I saw the flood in the news. It was funny to see that poor lady rowing a boat in the street of Miami Beach!

Crossing my fingers, I will be moving to Miami in November! ;)

“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'

'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit.

'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.'

'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?'

'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”

One of my favorite lenses, the 135mm f4 (200mm on the T). Made in 1960s, it renders beautifully and is so very light in weight. So easy to use on the T. And, a bargain price on the pre-owned market.

Part of Inland Cormorant Colony Nest Site.    TL2 Canon FD 500/4.5 manual focus lens with Canon 2x extender A;  ISO 3200 1/1600 f8 ( FF equiv. 1500 mm f16)

Yesterday visited a local nature reserve for the first time and was surprised to see a cormorant colony nesting in trees approx 80 yards form the observation hide.  Yesterday was extremely windy hence used high ISO 3200 to achieve a high shutter speed. The Canon FD 2x A extender does not have good reputation but so far it seems to be OK. For the return visit plan to use Leitz 800/6.3 Telyt S with Leitz 1.4x and 2x APO extenders ... which should enable up to 2400mm focal length FF equiv. with the TL2 … and hopefully some close-up shots of the birds in nesting habitat. Note there are gulls (I think they're gulls?) nesting on the platform above the cormorant's nest. But if they are juvenile gulls they are enormous?  Cormorants were once a coastal seabird but have spread inland and surprisingly now nest in trees. There is a possibility the platform was erected in the treetops to attract ospreys which breed on another reserve nearby.

Next visit will also take binoculars to observe the 'gulls' more closely.

Best wishes

I have a 'fixed' version of my TL2 back and I wish I had had the patience to use a tripod before trying it out this morning.  At any rate everything seems to work well, Visoflex and all.  After the first shorts with the Visofles when I switched the camera off I did notice that the rear screen didn't go completely off though.  There was a slight glow.  Later I took out the battery and put it back in and I have not been able to reproduce the problem.

Thaken with a 90mm f4 Macro Elmar.
