By the way, just changed my name and will also change image...Billinghamlady to Bell123. Still me!

You should add an "e" to "Bell" and make it "Belle" as I believe you are a woman! ;)

I like both color and B/W; but maybe, for this kind of colorful flowers, the color version suits better. And yes, you are absolutely right; the compression is highly screwing up photos in this site. I don't see any solution to that since the site only accepts small size and low resolution pictures.... In DPR, you can post any size and the result is much better!

Changed! And I agree on color, particularly with the Noctilux. It does something unique in color. Not as useful on my monochrome.

Late autumn here, and the weekend's wet weather is gone, replaced with a staunch anti-cyclone, meaning freezing temps.

While I have long known the T is never going to be a real astro camera, I decided to give in and try it again a bit, I'll blame Rick short of admitting I've always wanted it to be the astro camera I use.

It isn't, not when 30 seconds is all you can manage.

Anyway.

AstroTech 65EDQ scope.

T

Single shot of 30 secs, at ISO6400

And last one.

I tried the 23 Summicron lens, and while the results were poor, I did rush it. They were out of focus, and I guess focus by wire is always going to struggle.

This is with the 35mm Summicron R, at F5.6.

For you northern folk, it is the Southern Cross, pointing upright middle of the frame. The two pointers are the the left, and in the area on the right hand side you can see "Eta Carina", known as NGC3372, the picture above shows this.

Gary .. Once again your modesty is unwarranted .. I think your Astro shots are amazing .. Particularly considering you are using the T. You have pushed the T to its technical limits quite effectively.. But of course it is limited in this aspect.

Thanks for sharing,

Rick

Gary, that is very impressive for one shot @ 30secs, have you stretched them to get that detail and the Nebulae?

I should have my mount back from being Hpertuned next week and am tempted to mount the T on top of the OTA when conditions are good enough, but it might have to wait until cooler months when there are a few opportunities other than DSO, I'm tempted to mount one of my longer Nikon lenses on it and see good if it can produce as they are faster lenses than my 80ED and 8"/F8 RC.

Your are blessed with so little LP in NZ it make me green with envy

What did you use for the defraction spikes Gary, the others don't appear to have them, I usually add them in via an addon in PS, the RC does them anyway.

No added spikes, they will be a result of the aperture blades on the 35mm Summicron R. At f2 it had plenty of CA, so I stopped it down, and exposed as long as I could.

If only I could go to something like 3 minutes, it would be perfect.

The T app helped too, being freed from holding the shutter button down was great.

If the mood takes me, I might slip the 10" f5 newt onto the mount, and try that, maybe.
