A little moth-eaten, these daffodils still bring a burst of colour to the early spring garden.

Chris,

No, the Micro Nikkor I am now using is the older style AI lens .. 55mm Micro Nikkor AI f 2.8 .. This does not have any auto focus mechanics in it, so ..more compact, all metal build, this and the 105 AI were a couple of the best Macro lenses available back in the film days. These can still be purchased new today at B&H etc. If you can find one used in good shape they are relatively inexpensive. As far as success taking butterfly photos .. I was at a Butterfly Farm..so the subjects were constantly presenting themselves.. Also I was in the Caribbean where there was bright sunlight most of the time. Handheld macro ..close up .. Photos require lots of light .. I was often shooting at 1/100th @ f 3.5-8. ISO 200. Auto focus is nice to have for macro shots, but not absolutely necessary..I missed a few for sure, but I spent most of my life with manual focus so I do all right.

Cheers,

Rick

PS: lens plus Nikon to M adapter - M adapter to Leica T.

Good day Rick,

Thank you for your reply. Here is a photograph of a Celastrina Argiolus who resided for a week near the sunscreen of a terracedoor. It took some time to find out which species honored me with his visit. It is indeed a male and I tried with my small V Lux 20, using the Macro option. The butterfly is blue but the grey background also colours blue. Why?

For my T I might follow your Nikon set up but then I would need to get the adapter. Wouldn't it be more comfortable to try the TL macro lens?

Dear Volbeat, many thanks for the kind word.
I am not sure I understand your question ("how does an enthusiastic....?"), however...

Best,
Peter

Dear Peter,

That is fantastic and I love your article in LFI.

But how does an enthusiastic amateur follow that?

Dear friends,

I am very happy to notice this forum has not been broken into different pieces. :)

My T had some issues and I had to send it to New Jersey for some face lift. BTW, Leica at New Jersey has always been my very best online experience. They have always been very professional, helpful, and friendly… But it seems things have changed!... I don’t feel the same wonderful servicing anymore, and was bothered by how much they have been wasting my time!...

These are my last shots before I had my problems with T, during the last snow fall in Washington DC. I can’t wait to have my camera back and start shooting again! I am just missing this year’s Cherry Blossoms!
