First snow of the year in Washington DC area

When I saw large snowflakes from my window, I knew I had to take some shots. But by the time I arrived downtown, it almost stopped snowing and snowflakes became tiny!...

For the record, I still prefer  where our friend Rob is living; warm and sunny Florida! :)

Leica T + Nikkor 50 mm.

Great shot, love this urban winter atmosphere! And the cold colors really give and idea of the temperature ...

PS: back to the Nikon lens  ;)

Thanks very much, Robert. I am glad no one has yet suggested I must clean my sensor! :D

As for the Nikkor lenses, I really like them and enjoy MF! ;)

Btw, I think that the Leica 18/56 would be just fine, as well.

Much appreciated Rob.

It was a covered and dark day and I decided to go with my Nikkor 50 mm, 1.4, rather than 18-56 with f/3.5-5.6. Also because I thought I can be more in control with MF, not yet being comfortable with 18-56 MF. I like the sharpness of this lens and the bokeh, too. When I left home, the snowflakes were so big that I thought they may give me a headache for focusing the objects. :)

Ah, Louis, you have baited me once again into a 'typical' Florida shot!

Alas, a cold front passing through today. Temperatures dipping into high 50s before warming!

Ahhh that blue sky and those elegant palm trees!... Love them; love them!

If it makes you feel better, Rob; today I also have a blue sky and a very bright sun, but .... it is 18 degree right now! :(

Next time I am in Paris, it would be lovely to walk around with you and watch, share the experience as Paris is my favourite city and I used to work there, but have never done any serious Photography as it was always on business and a brief case and camera kit on the way to a board meeting didn't work! :-)

Thanks for the vote of confidence to act as a guide in Paris, John, it would have been my pleasure. However, my sojourn here comes to end soon, as I'll have to return to California for the start of the new semester.

Regards,

Thomas

A corner of the Court Charles V, a quirky little village of anciens immeubles in the middle of the 4th arrondisement. The area used to be the royal gardens of King Charles V, therefore the terrain, although part of the flood plain of the Seine which is only a stone's throw away, is not entirely flat and even.

Thanks Thomas, I wish you all the best, I bet you will miss Paris? It is such a beautiful place, that I must try and go back this year.

I know it seems strange but I liken the antiquity of Paris and Budapest in a similar vein, that is another of my favourite Cities that I regularly visit and I must go back there as I have family in the city.
