Steve H Posted November 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Some people are just so lucky. There's a lady on YouTube who bought a 1953 IIIf, 135mm f4.5 lens, 35mm f3.5, 50mm f1.5, clear lens filter, yellow lens filter, and viewfinder all for $10!

luigi bertolotti Posted November 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) Am I wrong, or she (around 1.03 - 1.06) describes Hektor as "a zoom lens" ? 😁 Edited November 6, 2020 by luigi bertolotti

NigelG Posted November 6, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 6, 2020 I see my mother is not alone in describing any lens with a focal length above c.50mm as a “zoom” lens (as the resultant pictures are “zoomed-in” in her words)...

Somebody should direct her to this forum. She wouldn't be the first novice to be sucked into the Leica vortex.
willeica Posted November 6, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 6, 2020 Lucky finds are possible, but nothing here beats the first IIId which was bought for about $10 and sold recently for 40,000 Euro. It passed through this forum earlier this year on its way to achieving that amount. And note that we did not give an estimate of value on the forum in accordance with the 'house rules'. Not an expensive lens these days but she basically got it for nothing.

Lens hood for the Summarit 5 cm that is part of her lucky kit... version with clamp screw, to be precise... There's also a filter for the Summarit (they were different from other filters, due to "odd" front size of the lens) Edited November 6, 2020 by luigi bertolotti

I have tried with a message on the youtube page... 😎 (I hope the name of our forum is not "sensitive"...) ; she looks a pleasant woman and there are so few in the Forum...
