I have never used a flash that I bought years ago, until now. Silly, I know. I should use it more.
This SF24D gave just the right light for my M10-P and 18mm Super Elm.

The problem isn't the size limit of the files here, it's the low resolution previews within the posts

Unlike what Steven thinks:

  • It's a pity that there is not a paying option for members interested to lift the the resolution limit. It could have been an enormous source of income for the forum.”

I think it is just the opposite.

Many think, with the Flickers that the poster will pay because of being ‘narcistic’, sort of, to show off the pictures as professional to those coming along. It is the apeal to vanity.

Might it not be so, that members might be willing to pay for having a premium experience in viewing, so avoiding the ‘crappy low res previews’ and directly enjoying a high res image (suited to the device??). Or the the black box that shows up is really good? This cohort will outnumber the other easily, and with a low fee etc etc. [I was Mr Spreadheet.. ] Just 2 pennies .

[I know this is not the right thread to discuss it but ok, it came along @jaapv

@StevenSorry, absolute newbie here but for what its worth just wanted to share my process - assuming that one is comfortable with / willing to use the command line it's rather quick:

I use ImageMagick to downscale any hires image to be 2480px on the longest side, ie

Quote

# for landscape

$ mogrify -resize 2480x myImage.jpg

and

Quote

# for portrait

$ mogrify -resize x2480 myImage.jpg

You misunderstood my thinking, though.

I don't care to show high resolution photos. I just can't be bothered, after the whole process of creating an image, to have to reimport it into light room, export it into a low resolution file that has the sole purpose of being uploaded to this forum before being deleted forever. That's just annoying.

Yes, it's not resolution that's the problem here, it's the fact that the forum software dishes out the inline images as a compressed preview instead of showing the original.

Many of us already pay for a supporting membership, but it makes no difference to the inline previews we post or see.
