Mucca244 Posted October 4, 2020 Share #1  Posted October 4, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello,  This is my first post on this forum to apologies if this post is in the wrong section.  When using the Summarit 50 (2.4) on my CL I appear to be getting strange artefacts in the images. This only appears to be happening when there is a bright light source in the image. At first I thought it was the uv filter causing this so I removed it and I still get the same results.  I have attached an image and it would be great if anyone could shed some light on what I’m seeing..the area of concern isn’t the lens flare on the right but the red dots which appear in a grid pattern on the left of the image. I don’t remember seeing this on other lenses / cameras. (This image is just as an example) https://flic.kr/p/2jPk4L7 Thanks in advance, Josh Edited October 4, 2020 by Mucca244

jaapv Posted October 4, 2020 Share #2  Posted October 4, 2020 That is a well-known flare pattern that is seen on many cameras and lenses in these light conditions. Search the forum for more examples.
lct Posted October 4, 2020 Share #3 Â Posted October 4, 2020 Nothing to do with the lens or filters. Just avoid shooting the sun at f/11 and above. May be visible at f/8 though.
Mucca244 Posted October 5, 2020 Author Share #4  Posted October 5, 2020 Thanks for the replies. I haven’t come across this before so it’s a relief to know it’s user error.
nicci78 Posted October 5, 2020 Share #5  Posted October 5, 2020 Just shoot film. No weird bayer filter reflections. 😉
jaapv Posted October 5, 2020 Share #6  Posted October 5, 2020 Yep, use a 000 Phillips screwdriver to open up the camera to get the film in. You'll have to peel the leatherette off to split the body shell.  1 hour ago, nicci78 said: Just shoot film. ruskkyle Posted October 5, 2020 Share #7  Posted October 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey @Mucca244, welcome to the forum. This is known as sensor flare and there are other examples of it if you do a quick search. As mentioned above, simply open up your aperture a little in these instances and it should fix the problem.
