mleader Posted December 4, 2020 Share #62 Posted December 4, 2020 Been reading this thread with interest. Received my M10M Wetzlar on 11/20. White lettering on back and last 3 of Serial # 817. Add another data point to this thread...
Lewca Posted December 8, 2020 Share #63 Posted December 8, 2020 I am considering the M10 Monochrom 'Leitz Wetzlar' and I recall reading somewhere that the finish on the 'Wetzlar' is black paint whereas the finish on the M10 Monochrom is black chrome. Can any of the 'Wetzlar' owners confirm this. Much appreciated. Thanks.

You will of course need matching 35mm. Edited December 8, 2020 by pedaes

BTW, some have blacked out rear lettering (where it says "Leica Camera Wetzlar Made in Germany") like mine, and the rest have this lettering in white. I corresponded with Wetzlar about it and they confirmed it was a change made mid-stream that resulted in some shipping without the updated white. Lewca Posted December 9, 2020 Share #67 Posted December 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi ... thanks for the comments - much appreciated. My heart says buy the Monochrom Wetzlar ... my head says just convert RAW files from my M10-P. Back and forth... back and forth. 🙄

My heart says buy the Monochrom Wetzlar ... my head says just convert RAW files from my M10-P. Back and forth... back and forth. 🙄 I was in the same position regarding the monochrom. I have the original M10 and had shot around 40,000 actuations and probably flipped to b/w 85% of the time. So I lusted for the M10M. I finally caved when the Leitz-Wetzlar was announced at the same price -- I love the history and that just pushed me over the edge. I still would not give up color so I held on to the M10. The revolutionary thing about the M10M, special edition aside, is low light performance. IT IS AMAZING. Where I didn't trust the M10 above 3200 ISO, I totally trust the M10M at 12500. The images are stellar. I'm a night shooter and now feel I can capture anything. So if you're mostly a daytime guy, perhaps not as dramatic a difference from flipping your M10 to monochrom. But if you are, you'll be blown away. Edited December 9, 2020 by insomnigraphic
Gobert Posted December 9, 2020 Share #69 Posted December 9, 2020 I have the same combo. M10 and M10M as I still prefer nature photos and holiday memories in color. I have limited my M10M to auto ISO 25.000 and a shutter speed of 1:1.
Keith (M) Posted December 9, 2020 Share #70 Posted December 9, 2020 As illustrated in this thread, ISO 64000 is quite useable, should the need arise.
insomnigraphic Posted December 10, 2020 Share #71 Posted December 10, 2020 Yes I'd say it can be trusted far above 12500, but if you ever crop the noise does get more noticeable of course. But on the M10M 12500 looks like 3200.

insomnigraphic Posted December 14, 2020 Share #78 Posted December 14, 2020 Camera bodies and automated gear absolutely. They are tools and if a premium brand it's only an investment in your enjoyment. I would quibble only in that a manual, already legendary Leica lens is a long-term relationship

mmradman Posted December 14, 2020 Share #80 Posted December 14, 2020 Some People see digital camera and even variant of standard lens as monetary investment, expecting profit at some point in the future. Btw, I live for today and coined investment in happiness in context of buying incompatible MF lens to use on AF camera over ten years ago, that is a story for other time.
