humerc Posted May 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am very interested in the 28 Summilux and try to do some research about it at the moment. But somehow there is not nearly as much to find on the net then to most other lenses. Why? Has it nobody? Is it too big? I would like to partner it with my Lux 50 ASPH and vintage Cron 35. Would be great to hear some opinions from actual Owners!
Advertisement Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi humerc, Take a look here No Love for 28 Summilux?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Fedro Posted May 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2020 It is a gorgeous lens, especially for low light and environmental portraits. Very sharp but with a nice sparkle. If you search this forum there are plenty of posts that discuss it (often in comparison to other 28mm lenses), including a trail specifically on pictures shot with it

DickieT Posted May 9, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2020 I really like mine too. Sure, it is a little more bulky but you get so much in return. As stated already, it is sharp without being clinical and provides beautiful rendering and bokeh fully open. It is often my life saver when shooting film in low light conditions. I have teamed it up with an old 28 Summaron (that came actually first) it makes a great combo

anickpick Posted May 10, 2020 Share #11 Posted May 10, 2020 The 28 Lux is my favorite of all the Summilux lenses. Sublime rendering wide open.

Guest Posted May 10, 2020 Share #16 Posted May 10, 2020 Since cropping is a problem at all with modern cameras, it does make sense to compare the bokeh at 1.4 of the 28mm to the 24mm lens. Flickr is a good source of images.
NRKstudio Posted May 12, 2020 Share #17 Posted May 12, 2020 @humerc lots of love, top three leica lenses for me. It’s the latest gen of the ASPH lenses made, so newer than the 35 FLE and also sharper. Check my history for a comparison with the Sigma 28 Art and Loxia 25, for bokeh, rendering, etc. unfortunately the Sl2 has huge shading issues and color drift that the current LR profiles do not correct. It’s killer on the M10 Monochrom

Would be great to hear some opinions from actual Owners! It's nice, but it's also: A little bigger than what you would want from a rangefinder lens, thereby blocking the viewfinder. An awkward frame line for the M viewfinder (though I can get by with little problem). Rather expensive. You can get a Q which is cheaper, comes with a weather-resistant back up camera to the M, at only 1/2 stop slower.
