Does anyone shoot video with M lenses? If so, which cameras are you (or have you been) using? I shoot film with the Leica M system and am also interested in video. I'm open to any manufacturer (doesn't have to be Leica). Sony, Canon, Fuji, they're all good as long as the lenses would work well for video. I have the 50mm Summilux and planning to buy the new 35mm Summilux too.

I use M lenses with my SL2 ... as far as video goes, I am a complete and utter novice. I wish there was more on the forum about video. I would like to learn more. I have a old AF NIKKOR 85mm 1:1.4D lens,  I think would make wonderful "atmospheric" Video. But my own ignorance is outputting when it comes to video.

Any M lenses will work just fine for video.

The Noct F1.0 is a gem this way.

I use the older M lenses for their softer rendition esp w/people...as the sharper rendition of the asph lenses can be a bit harsh.

Doesnt matter these days what camera you use..I use the cheaper Sonys and Pannys..the micro 4/3 will make your 50mmm into a 100mm..the Panasonic G7 is a good cheap video cam..

The question is about what a good body to use with them is.

Any 4K body will do..

..but if you do concert or workshop work..get a cam that can do more than 30 min at a time..this will reduce your options a lot..

Personally I hate the 30 min limit on most cams...as I do a lot of concert work..

See the thing is..if you get (4) G7's...with their unlimited video recording time (even though the specs say...29 min)..for about $500- a pop..then you can multi cam your work..on the cheap.. for youtube and such..

Or get a GH4/5..for more bux and more professional specs..

And..you will need a fully articulated flippy screen..this is where the Sonys fail..as well as Leica..

My video camera of choice is the JVC LS300, which has a Super 35 size sensor (similar in size to the Leica M8).  Lens mount is micro four thirds, so it can host any MFT lens as well as many third party lenses via a mount adapter.  Normally I mount one of my Nikon lenses, but am toying with the notion of getting an m-mount adaptor for it since corner performance will not be an issue due to the crop factor.  I have still cameras that are competent video cameras, but I went with the LS300 because I wanted to learn how to do video with a camera that had full featured video controls and functions rather than deal with the limitations of a camera designed primarily for still photography.

Which one is that?

What about the Canon R or Nikon Z cameras?

I have z7 for photo work and it was great with Leica glass!  for video z6 is better.

I don't have Canon R and can't say for sure.  Canon have new stuff coming, could be better or par with Nikon.

That's fantastic! Now I just wish Nikon Z had a flip-out screen where you could see yourself :) Maybe one will be coming soon...

I've seen Z8 or Z9 something was registered according to Nikon rumon.  Your wish may come true in the soon future.

Edit: btw, you can use snapbridge (a Nikon iPhone app) to remote the Z to take selfie without the need of flip-over screen.

I use Leica M 28 summicron I, 35 summicron asph, 50 summicron and 90 elmarit on an SL body routinely. Full frame HD at 120fps is great. I also have a Sigma fp and use these lenses as well. Although the fp doesn't have microlenses in the corners, when you crop to 16:9 for video the corners don't matter anymore. The Sigma fp is really great with a cage and shooting HD or 4K CDNG.

I have also adapted Voigtlanders  (15, 21, 35, 40) in M mount and Canon FD (28, 35, 50, 100, 200) to both of these L mount bodies. Recently picked up a Sigma 24-70 2.8 for stills and video for both cameras.
