Photo vests are a tool same as lenses and in the right circumstances are fine.

I use my bodies to make different shots, rarely of the same subject but to suit the focal length I want to use. No Christmas trees or over reactions just a means to an end.

There are circumstances that I only take my Fuji X-T2 and 16-55 zoom when max flexibility and minimal kit is required as I said each to their own or more properly Horses for Courses but whatever, I don't try to say that my way is the only way, that would be arrogant and narrow minded.

It is indeed an awesome sight to witness a mass camera club outing where the photo vest (and backpack containing everything including the kitchen sink) is almost religious attire, and as the first see's an interesting angle and goes down on one knee so the rest follow in supplication hoping to witness the same thing. They also carry more than one camera.

I got an M5 about three years ago and it is the best film shooter Leica ever made IMHO!  I have been using Leica's since 1974 with the M5's small brother, the CL.  The M5 was in development over ten years and if you don't mind the non traditional size,  you will fall in love.  I used it a lot with the 50 as that focal length brings up the metering area in the viewfinder.  Some would say the finder is cluttered with the meter, metering field with the 50, shutter speed but I never found it so.  Funny but my favorite classic M model is the M2 primarily because of the single frame lines in the viewfinder.

Give the M5 a try, you can always sell it.

Carrying 3 cameras is  in my opinion silly!

Changing lenses another waste of time!

I use mainly the 50mm Collapsible Summicron f2. with of course a Leica M3..

I am no longer a pro so I can take time to change lenses, but!

In Canada's lovely winter weather, what with gloves, falling wet snow, changing lenses is a nightmare.

Fingers don't work, glasses mist up, loading film left for warm coffee shop!

So i use film in camera, when finished, i am finished.

Using one lens know almost exactly what i will capture.

I travel light  and leave things to the gods..oh! This one of few ever with Goggle-Summaron 35mm on M3.

Haze caused by moisture on filter and front element.
