I shot this back in the mid-90s for Outside Magazine but they never used it. :(  The sun was setting as the moon was rising over Lake Monona, Madison, Wisconsin.

I spent 19 wonderful years in Madison, where our 3 children were born and where we made friends of a lifetime. These are beautiful pictures, fotografr, that help me remember that extraordinary place (or at least the 3 months of the year when it isn't snowing  :) ).

That's very interesting. When did you leave? Are you familiar with the East side? I live very close to where the Yahara River flows into Lake Monona. Maybe you and Stuart should arrange a rendezvous here and we can all go out to shoot up the town.

About the snow and cold, I just have two words: global warming. We'll have the last laugh. :D

Thank you, Stuart. Madison was in a runoff with Burlington, VT, for Outdide Magazine's pick for the best place in America to live. Burlington edged us out so they got the bulk of the photos. The magazine still used a couple of mine, but not this one which was my favorite.

Sorry, fotografr, I noticed this only now.

We lived on the West Side (University Heights), but sure, I know where you live. I used to take one of our boys for a bike ride around Monona stopping in Pasqual's for lunch.... We do get back, though infrequently, as our BFFs still sort of live there, but also have an apartment in Chicago, where they spend a lot of time....

Is Stuart also a Madison alum?

Brent -

I missed that lovely set which starts with Megan's Bay - the last time I was there (early 1980s?) there was nothing built on or around it.

Actually, I think I'm wrong about that being Megan's Bay. My photo showed the view from the house we rented in the hills.

Indeed, I just checked a map and my photo shows Redhook Bay. Megans Bay, which I did spend time at, is on the other side of the island.
