As a CL user, what can you fit in that? My Fogg Flute holds the CL+18-56, but not, quite, the 35mm TL, nor the 11-23. jaapv Posted February 17, 2020 Share #23 Posted February 17, 2020 I use it when I carry the CL with M lenses (like Summicro 40 and Color Skopar 25, and through lack of internal divisions I have to wrap the extra gear. But when i want to travel light and have both hands free it is just fine. I see it as an alternative to carry-in-the-pocket. For a zoom CL set I use the Billingham for Leica, but that is across the shoulder only. This is my "light travel" kit in the Billingham for Leica. Somtimes I replace the Summicron 40 by the Summilux 24. Welcome, dear visitor! I have the comparison of the Apo 55-135mm with the 135 Tele-Elmar M. The first Photo is the Apo 55-135mm, and the second one is Tele-Elmar M. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! That comparison seems interesting to me. At first glance, the 2 photos you have uploaded, my view is not clear enough to see which one is the best. (For me, they are very similar). I have checked them with Photoshop increasing to 100%, 200% and 300% and the behavior in both photos has been similar. Is the Tele M 135, f4? .. There are several models. A photo of the telephoto lens would clarify any doubt. I have the Tele for (screw) 135 mm (Leica IIIF or IIIG, etc.) that has many years and I want to try it. From what I see, there are old goals that, if they have been well taken care of, give excellent results and, in addition, are more beautiful and cheap. The drawbacks are that you have to use them in Manual mode, which, when you get used to it, is no problem.

Mine cost very little and gives me much pleasure despite also having its successor the TELE-Elmar. In fact, a CL body and a selection of old Leica lenses would make a very competent kit with the adapter. Focus peaking with magification makes for accurate and pleasurable focusing, often more consistently accurate than AF.
Sjz Posted February 23, 2020 Author Share #26 Posted February 23, 2020 Hi, just to let you know, I took the advice and am picking up an 18-55 and 55-135 tomorrow.
Sjz Posted March 22, 2020 Author Share #27 Posted March 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Just want to let you know the cl was a superb choice for the trip. The 18-55 was the lens on the camera most of the time however the 55-135 spent a fair chunk of time liberating some of the views. One additional purchase was a f-stop icu which converted some space in my normal hand luggage and later a cheap rucksack into a protective harbour for my kit. I have not had the time to properly process the photos, so attached is an example of ‘out of the camera and a little tweaking in Affinity. Being new here I can only share 1.17mb files.
Marac Posted March 22, 2020 Share #28 Posted March 22, 2020 It's a good choice, the 18-56 is a very good lens indeed. I have my CL kit down to the 11-23 / 35 / 55-135 and that covers everything I will ever need and it all fits into a Billy bag (billingham) with my IR converted T and all the relative add on bits & batts. geoffreyg Posted March 26, 2020 Share #29 Posted March 26, 2020 My kit is CL + 23, 18-55, and 55-135. Pretty much does it all for me, and fits in a very small Think Tank Retrospective 4 2.0, nice and tidy. Don't need anything more - have a 15 Voigtlander M mount, with converter, if more wide is ever needed, and its tiny.
Le Chef Posted March 26, 2020 Share #30 Posted March 26, 2020 I'm currently using "couples" lenses. Wide: 11-23 + 23 Middle: 23 + 18-56 Long: 18-56 + ??? i'm still not sure what my other "Long" lens should be, but so far I'm not a fan of the 55-135. The 60 is great but expensive. Possibly an M-lens 75mm or 90mm???

Is your 15mm Voigtlander M mount version II or the newer larger version III that was updated for use on mirrorless digital cameras? I had a Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 version II for years as my wide lens on the wonderful Ricoh GXR M Mount module, and was wondering if it is worth the upgrade to version III for the Leica TL2 or CL sensor. huwm Posted March 28, 2020 Share #32 Posted March 28, 2020 I am increasingly carrying CL 18-56, 55-135 and 35 as my think tank 'usual photo kit' Alternatively TL2 18 or 23 'in pocket' When I have 2 cameras then its CL as above and TL2 with 11-

Worse... mine is the very early s1 LTM with an M converter on it. Its decent, not superb, and if I used it more, I might upgrade. Godfrey has had wonderful luck with his 10mm, my guess is the latest 15mm must be pretty good too. But I'm happy enough with the wide end of the zoom, or the Leica 21 SEM if needed. jaapv Posted April 1, 2020 Share #34 Posted April 1, 2020 Don't forget that you are using full frame lenses on APS. That old Voigtländer 15 LTM is actually pretty good in the centre. You won't gain much by upgrading.

alainD Posted April 2, 2020 Share #36 Posted April 2, 2020 I ran an experience of “traveling light” in India last year. I took 2 CL bodies with me, one with the 23mm on it and one with the 60mm. Perfect kit, I did not need anything else. Alain

If it weighed about 300 - 400g it would be a consideration, but it’s too heavy to make it worthwhile.

Funny thing is, when I first got the 55-135 I was not really impressed but my initial thoughts have changed since actually working with the lens, I forced myself to shoot with that lens only on a Zoo trip and by the end of the evening after looking at the shots on my Mac I was blown away. Again, it's a lens that needs a bit of light around to really see is Yumminess but when you find it, it's worth keeping. Also to be fair, it's quite a nice size too.
