The dealer checked out fine or the specific lens serial number checked out fine? Two different things. Jeff

The lens I've got is new from a reputable dealer, so warranty shouldn't be an issue. As for Ebay, I stopped using it years ago. I'll keep my eyes open for what happens when the S3 comes around. AF speed is not really a problem, for what I do even manual focus is fine (but the eyes are not getting younger...). I started with the M series (M4 and film) and still love it. But, I also love the S007. I started with an S2P which was affordable, and a 35mm and 120mm. I think you are on the right track. The S shoots differently (for most) than the M, so you can have a great time with both camera systems.

Ask the dealer for the serial number; if they won't tell you then step away from the deal (as it's probably stolen).
