I have Adobe Lightroom Classic on my iMac Pro at home, and it's always crunching card imports and uploading everything to Lr CC.  That way all the iphones and iPads and Macbooks are in sync, as well as the Lr Web.

Now the new version of iOS allows direct import from USB-C, and you can also use Lr CC Mac to import photos directly.

However, when I connect the USB-C to SL2 and the Macbook Air, I see nothing.  Is there a way to enable Finder to see it as a volume?

I understand there's a Lr Classic plugin, which is not an answer here since I'd install in on the home rig and there I always can pop in the card into the reader.  The question is what if I'm in the field with the Air or iPad Pro without a card reader but with the USB-C cable...

In the camera settings menu on page 5 of the menu, have you set USB mode to mass storage?

Doh.  That's it.  It shows both cards apparently, one as "Untitled" and another as Leica DSC.

@jaapv I've noticed the FOTOS Pro as well and see that, in trial mode, there's a Lightroom icon to share a current photo easily.  But one can always save it to Files and then open from Lr CC on the iPhone, so I don't yet see the point...

Does anybody know if I can directly import pictures from the Fotos.app into Lightroom mobile or do I always have to store the pictures in the iOS Photos App First? So that I do not need a Card reader and I do not have the dngs in my iCloud ?

Yes, you can, but it’s very slow. Use the share icon (arrow coming out of a square) in the Fotos gallery and Lightroom should be one of the options.

Unless it’s only one or two pictures an SD card reader for your phone is better because of the speed.
