Michael Geschlecht Posted January 27, 2020 Share #21 Posted January 27, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Everybody, Does anyone, by any chance, have a roll of current Provia 100F that they could put a photo of here in this Thread? With the 12 little "magic boxes" visible. Placed to also show the little "nubbin" at 1 end. Then we can read the little boxes & see what Fuji has to tell us about what is being written about here. Best Regards, Michael

Well there are 12 boxes 😀 Still can’t make sense of the OP comments; what’s the ‘little nubbin’, and what message should we be looking for?
TomB_tx Posted January 28, 2020 Share #25 Posted January 28, 2020 The "magic boxes" refer to the DX coding on the cartridge, which includes more information than just ISO; such as exposure tolerance for that emulsion. Sorry, the only 100F I have on hand is 120, and the boxes aren't so magic with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DX_encoding

Thank you Tom. And thank you also for putting the graphics in this Thread. And what Tom deciphered means: The film in this cartridge has a box speed of ISO 100/21. The film in this cartridge is in a 36 exposure roll. The film in this cartridge has an ACTUAL ISO of 100/21 when it is developed following the recommendations on the box for the film speed written on the box. The film in this cartridge has an exposure latitude of +/- of 1/2 of 1 stop.
