I’ve been using a Metabones LeicaM -E Mount adapter on a Sony A7RII with no issues.  I upgraded to a Sony A7RIII and this adapter won’t snap into place.  My TechArt adapter snaps into place smoothly with no problems, but not the Metabones.  I need an adapter that will work on the Sony A7RIII for manual focus situations. Any recommendations? Have any of you had this issue?

Thanks!

My favorite on A7s are the Voigtlander VM-E close focus adapter and the Novoflex NEX/LEM adapter. I have no experience with the A7r3 though.

Since these are E-mount adapters, I would assume they would work the same?

The same here (on APS).

Wilfredo, do you have asked Metabones for the problem? The Sony E-mount does not change, otherwise Sony lenses would not be compatible on new camera generations.

I hear you. It could be that I have a defective adapter.  Any warranty on it has expired.

All adapters are not set with the same tolerance i guess. I've just rejected 3 LTM to M adapters, including a Metabone one, for similar reasons as yours.

I use the Hawk Helicoid adapters. I have an older one which has a narrow "throat" (~36 mm) where my 90 mm Elmar/Elmarit, 135 mm Elmar and Telyt 200/4 will get little dark corners. A later version I have with a wider "throat" (~41 mm) work well with all my lenses (tested up to the Telyt 200/4).

I find the ability to focus a little closer as the standard Leica MFD advantageous, allthough the longer the lens gets  the additional few mm is obviously giving less gain.

Mine is fine so it sounds as though yours is defective in some way. Why not at least ask Metabones to look at it?

I've adjusted a K&F Concept LM-NEX to match infinity focus, and it works perfectly fine (fits perfectly, snug etc.), also had the Voigtlander and it worked fine, close focusing is fine, but I didn't feel it was worth that much more.
I got a Novoflex EOSR/LEM for the EOS R from an ebay auction and it started to wiggle slightly after a few months of light use (at least I didn't pay the full retail price), so overall it seems to me that these 'premium' adapters are a waste of money, when there are cheaper ones out there that after a bit of adjust work just as fine for a whole lot less and one can get an extra lens from the savings. Imho, of course.

I use with my A7r3 an TechArt Pro adapter. For autofocus and manuel focus shots as well. It works fine.

How do you get it to work on manual?  Even when I set my Sony A7RIII to M focus, it won't shoot manually when my TechArt adapter is attached to it with an M lens.

Sorry there is a difference. With the adapter the image is not enlarged while focusing (when the MF assist is set to "on").

The peaking works well.

I managed to get it to work but even on manual it goes into search mode, at least in low light.  I think I’m going to give the Voiglander adapter a try, and will be ordering it.

Just an update. I purchased the Voigtlander VM-E close focus adapter, and it works really well, even with a 90mm Elmarit R lens I have, which I use  with an LR-LM adapter on the VM-E close focus adapter.  I'm good to go!  Thank you all for your responses!

I just received the Novoflex NEX/LEM and testing now with my 35/90mm Summicrons. It works brilliantly. I will say on the Sony A1 I needed to up the shutter speed with the 90mm. No so with the 35mm and presumably with the 50mm Summicron when I get that. These two images the first with the 90mm and second with the 35mm are the first tests to check out the lenses and especially to to try zone focussing again. On the A1 the focus aids make it very easy. So far very happy that I can test out my lenses and my abilities with manual focussing before I receive my M11.

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone knew of a Sony E lens, to a M mount Leica is possible. Thank you kindly.

No.. Sony E flange distance is 18mm, M is 27.8mm so M to E is possible, E to M is not, at least not without some optical elements in the adaptor.
