Nice series, and nice to have you back, Scott!

Thanks so much Tim--GREAT to be back!

Your Salgado quote pretty much sums it up for me right now, whatever the final output...

Great idea. I think this would be a fantastic shot if tightened up to eliminate a lot of the black space on the right. Just my 2 cents.

It could be - am the worlds worst at judging my own photos.

(I liked the part to the right on my screen as there was a tantalising amount of detail in it).  Appreciate your view 🙂

I REALLY like this version a lot. I'm only viewing on my phone at the moment. When I have time later today I'll check out the original on my desktop to see the detail in the black area on a good monitor.

🤷‍♂️  Good question!  A hobbit, maybe?

There are Burrowing Owls in Florida, but I don't know what their burrows look like. Also there are swallows that nest in banks, could be that. Hobbits are usually in much more pastoral settings, I believe.

A little church almost on my doorstep.

M10M, 24mm f/3.8 Elmar ASPH, orange filter.

If you want to know how tall the spire is, ask a Russian spy 😁

Nice photo of a "little" church. The sculpture on the lawn looks strangely out of place there. It's too modern for the setting.

We get quite a variety of sculpture in the cathedral grounds. It changes regularly, most of it is modernist and abstract - not to everybody's taste of course, but I rather like the contrast.

Thanks for looking and commenting ... John

M10 Monochrom, 135mm Leitz Wetzlar Tele-Elmar (1975), f4, .7 sec

The first is straight out of the camera, the second shows the amount of tonality available in the shadows with adjustments.

I've been using my M10M for several months but have never really pushed it until last night. I shot at ISO 12,500 and am amazed at the results. When I was shooting this event I was trying to imagine doing it back in my film days and was certain the results would have been unusable.

A wharf from the turn of the last century - they don't make them like this anymore - on Sydney's Parramatta River.
