Can anyone share the results of, or are taking pictures with the SL2 and the Leica 18mm TL or the 18-56 Vario-Elmar-TL? If I missed these images or a thread somewhere please redirect me.
I know these lenses don’t use the full sensor size and run in aps-c. Do these lenses work with the SL2 Aperture and Shutter priority modes? I like that they utilize the autofocus. I know there is less glass in these lenses, how do they do in lower light situations, like restaurants? As an amateur photographer I’m looking to find a light-weight take along setup in situations where I don’t need the (admittedly gorgeous) jumbo size resolution pictures that my SL 24-90 lens produces.
I also own the Sigma 45 lens (and love that is is light weight relatively speaking) but I find it awkward to use in social situations, always having to physically relocate myself to take a shot because it isn’t a comfortable focal length to get ‘everything in’.

I found that the 18mm TL on the SL2 was crisp enough, and in low-light situations, it performs better IMO than the 18mm on my CL even though the CL gives higher resolution images.

The 18 does work with the A and S modes. I will upload some images when more convenient, but I am happy with the 18 on the SL2 overall -- much happier than using the 18 on the CL.

Well woah, maybe I stand corrected after looking at the actual results:

Sorry for the external link, I'm not sure if I can post larger files here. Look at the filename at the top of each screenshot to see which photo came from what camera

EDIT: Both images shot manual at ISO 1600, f2.8, 1/125s shutter

Here's another sample, both pictures shot on Shutter Priority, 1/160s with auto ISO, auto aperture, etc.:

Disclaimer: All pictures were taken around 2000-2030 EST in a dark house with eggwhite walls and with 4 yellowish overhead lights about 5-7 feet above the miniatures photographed. I opened each photo in Preview on an iMac Pro and viewed at actual size and arranged the windows to effectively view the same space.

Last post, here's a comparison of the 50mm SL Summilux vs the 18mm Elmarit TL 2.8 both using the SL2:

Sorry, this is literally the last post.

Made the settings for the 50 SL Summi closer to the 18 TL:

I use rather a small manual zoom if I go light. The R 4/35-70 or the Contax 3.4/35-70. The Contax is light, looks nice, has macro and is full frame. They are still optically good and with the full resolution at least as good as the TL lenses.  (But if you already have the TL lenses, then I would also use them.)

Can you use SL2's IBIS with the Contax lenses? AFAIK, you can only use IBIS with L-mount and Leica's M and R mount lenses.

You can use IBIS with any lens. You just need to enter a focal length. On the S1R you can enter the number directly. On the SL2 you need to choose a lens (M or R). I hope they will also add the possibility to only enter a number.

Yes, with a zoom it is not perfect (I simply chose a 50mm). But I can live with it (at the moment).  🤓🤔

When I put a coded M lens on the SL2 (with the Leica adapter), It automatically recognises it.  When I put an uncoded lens or a different brand lens I get the message "unrecognised lens", I then scroll through the M lenses and choose the most similar lens profile. However when I click on the profile, for example 135mm, it just returns me to the live view screen, and I am never sure whether the lens has been selected or not.

IBIS must know the correct focal length to work optimally. I assumed that it is better to turn IBIS off than to use it with the wrong focal length. Online discussions mention that you may still be getting some help from IBIS if you are within a factor 2 of the correct focal length.

I have now seen that by pressing the Menu  Button (summary menu view) one can see which focal length has been registered.

I have tried my 11-23 TL on the SL2 at the Leica store, and it worked perfectly. If I cared enough, I'd work on the sky a bit.
