Thought you all might be interested to know that I called B and H to see about selling them my SL. They wouldn’t even make me an offer. Claim they have 15 in stock and they are not moving at all. Not great news for those looking to upgrade as I am. Any thoughts on a better avenue for selling would be welcome.

After getting the S1-R I sent the SL to Leica to have the viewfinder repaired. I was going to sell it when it came back.

It came back all cleaned up and when I learned what I might get for it I decided to keep it. This was a good decision.

I now carry two bodies, one with the SL2 35, and the other with the SL75 Summicron.

It was just too good a camera to let go so cheaply. Besides, gives me GPS if needed, and a smaller file, when required.

I have always liked a two body approach.

Try Fred Miranda, i got lucky had it sold couple days ago. I saw some sellers try to hold on above $2.5k but no one even bother with those asking prices regardless condition.

Hmmm, the last one shown as sold on Dec. 16th was listed at $3000.

The SL is the best $2,500 camera you can buy (in my biased opinion) and I am happy to have it.  The best non-M body for M lenses.

I sure wish Leica would introduce a replacement for the 24-90 so that I could afford the original!  But I love my M lenses!

I stated that it was listed at $3000, not sold at $3000.

And you staled that no one is bothering above $2500. Care to explain how you know that?

initial ad, I placed mine for 3k include shipping and PP fees. Many queries but no offer.

I even went to local store and they offered me $1.5k  Leica Miami same story, 80% of market price depends on condition, but I can't send it due to they don't have the SL 2  at the time I called.

That being said I lowered my asking price from 3k to 2.5k and it was sold 2.4k . Based on this, Market currently would pay around $2.4 -2.6. Leica stores are selling them for $2.6 - $2.8, last i checke

Popflash has an 8/10 SL going for $2800 and that one listed for $3000 at @Fred Miranda went as a trade valued between $2750 and $3000, according to the seller. All the used listed at B&H right now start at $2950 for an 8/10 and go well over 3k for a 9/9+.

From that info alone, it seems you could easily get $2500 and up for a mint SL.

I would suggest either Fred Miranda or Popflash. You'll make more with Miranda, but it's a lot easier with Popflash in that you won't have to deal with anything, i.e. photographing your items, PayPal, shipping, unfriendly buyers, etc. And as Jeff stated above you get 80% of the asking price which you  set, though they'll give you a range to consider.

So basically my statement is correct, $2.4 -2.6 from individuals are fair price.

I think one could ask for more. Why should individuals price less than B&H, Popflash or what individuals are getting at Miranda. So far, the lowest price is for an 8/10 @ $2800 from what I've found. And an 8/10 certainly isn't the cream of the crop.

BH or any other stores they could have return policy or even warranty while many individual sellers opt not.

Here some going on Ebay, remember Ebay has fees and paypal has fees.

Whatever the agreed price one establishes with Popflash (for direct sale), is bumped up on their eBay site to cover fees. Selling through them (or other reputable dealer) alleviates hassle. (for seller and buyer), provides marketing, with return and warranty policy.  That also can justify a somewhat higher asking price.

Last week I bought a 9/10 one in London for £2080 - I think I’ve got a good deal, by waiting until the price was right for me. I never buy new Leica as especially on new digital cameras you immediately lose a % of the value, much like a new car. It’s still a brilliant camera, I’m just coming to it a few years later than some. I’ve sold my near-mint M9-P to pay for it; a wrench, but I rarely used it anyway.
