Depending on the dealer, you may need to pay for it in advance. They said they are not doing the a-la-carte anymore, but you can ask the dealer to see if you wanted different leather or other options. My MP 0.85 is silver with the M240 grip. It is my modern M3. The MP 0.58 is black lacquer with the standard MP wrap, which I love because it just glues to your hand in crazy weather.... Best of luck getting one ! I love mine. Hi, I want to buy a brand new MP. On online leica store there is just 0.72 version available for pre order! Can you please explain the difference between 0.85 version and 0.72 for the record i want to use a 35mm lens And I’m wearing glasses. thanx

gabrielaszalos Posted April 14, 2020 Share #42 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) The number represents the magnification. The 0.85 is more “zoomed in” which means it might not be so good for a 35mm focal length. Even the 0.72 is just about right, you still have to stick your eye into the viewfinder. There is only one Leica MP and it’s 0.72. They used to have a program where you could customize it and use 0.82 among other changes, called “a la carte”, but that program no longer exists. I hope this helps. Edited April 14, 2020 by gabrielaszalos

With 0.72 , I think that 35mm is more comfort in use than x0.85 which is better use with 50mm lenses or longer.

You can purchase a 1.4x magnifier that fits on the viewfinder. This magnifies the rangefinder field which helps focus long focal lengths like 90mm and 135mm more accurately. The 0.85 viewfinder magnifies the field more than the 0.72 making those focal lengths easier to get correct. The M3 has a 0.91 viewfinder magnification. However, because of the magnification, the frame lines are different. The 0.72 has 35mm through 135mm. The 0.85 also has 35mm through 135mm but the 35mm frame line fills the field of view. An M3, at 0.91 cannot fit the 35mm. The 0.58 is a wide field of view and there is a 28mm frame line and the 24mm lens is essentially the entire field of view, but the 135mm frame line is not included because it would be too small. That said, I use the 24mm, 28mm and 35mm on the 0.58 and the 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 90mm and 135mm on the 0.85. There have been various special edition M6 TTL's that have had both 0.85 and 0.58 viewfinders and sometimes people sell others with it. To answer your question, you would probably find it easier to see the 35mm frame line on the 0.72 or 0.58 because the others magnify it. I wear glasses, but I prefer to use the diopter adjustments and screw them on the rangefinder, taking my glasses off to shoot. That's just me. Let me know if I have confused you or this makes sense...

I have had an order in since mid December and am still waiting. COVID will certainly not have helped here!

As I'm sure you know (but Bahram might not), the 0.72 also has 28mm framelines. My advice to Bahram is that the 0.85x will feel too tight using the 35mm framelines whilst wearing glasses. The standard 0.72x will be more comfortable.
