Black paint. Both MP and MA were black paint.

I believe that black MPs and M-As are chrome by default (my M-A is black chrome).  I think one could have ordered the MP in black paint via the a la carte program but I'm not sure that's still available.

Mute-on is correct. The MPs were always black paint. The M-As were black chrome.

I stand corrected.  I thought I'd read that black paint was an a la carte option for the MP but I guess I'm mistaken.

No worries, it happens!

My brand new MP has to go back to Leica. The lens mount isn't right. All four Leica lenses that I own are loose in the mount and wobble. Ruined my day out.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Bummer.  Hope they turn around the repair quickly.

I just ordered a Black Paint MP from an online company called Photospecialist in UK who are really Kamera Express in Holland. They took my money with a promise of 5-7 working days delivery, when pressed they told me that they couldn't get one until at least May 2020 so I cancelled the order and bought a used one. They refunded me but because they deal in Euros rather than UK Pounds on the refund I lost almost £200 on the exchange rate which I am now arguing with them over before I go to PayPal dispute. On the up side I am really happy with my used one.

That's bit of a bummer! I guess if you paid them xxxx€ and they refunded same, they have no more €'s to refund. An unfortunate consequence of strengthening GBP. Let's hope PayPal sort for you.

Thanks yes let's hope so, I'll give Photospecialist time to respond first. My issue is they took the money without confirming they could supply which is where I will start if they hold out on me, if I order on Amazon etc they don't take the payment until they confirm availability and ship. The real reason I posted was to let folks know there are online shops that are "implying" they have MPs in stock but clearly don't and they are happy to sit on your money for almost 6 months while they find one. Buyer beware.

MPs were black paint when issued. Haven’t seen a black chrome MP, or a black paint M-A for that matter.

I have a black chrome MP but it is ‘a la carte’.

I hope new MP cameras continue to appear, I hope they make a million of them!

I bought a new MP last week.  It's an a la carte, black paint with grey leather and matching leather neck strap.  It has a de-cluttered viewfinder with 35-50-90.  I bought it from the NYC Leica store.  B&H and Adorama have been sold out.  This was the last film camera that the Leica store had in stock (or so they told me).  It was ordered by the store before they stopped the custom program and was a display model perched behind the glass.  They also sold it to me for a reasonable discount.  I actually love how it looks and like the de-cluttered viewfinder as I only shoot 50mm.  I picked up a used 50 Summilux Asph to go with it for a decent price.  I was shooting it (with Tri-x) around Manhattan yesterday.  Getting the hang of the viewfinder focus patch.  This is my first Leica.  Maybe I'll post some pictures of it later if that is allowed.

I don't think that is completely fair. On their Dutch website they clearly say: out of stock - delivery unknown, have been doing so for mechanical Leicas for years. I don't  know about Photospecialist. I agree that they should take a down payment instead of the full sum on such expensive items, I used to be a happy customer of Kamera Express in the past, when they were only two shops. The problem is that they have grown into an amorphous international group. We see the same thing happening to CameraNu.

Sadly jaapv my experience is not as good as yours seemed to be. I have spent many hours on the phone with Kamera Express Customer Service all to no avail. I have been told on the phone and by email that they agree I should not have to bear the cost of the currency exchange but still no refund, every communication starts well then dies from their end. Finally I put the matter to my credit card company with the email evidence and they have refunded me the difference and are taking the matter up with Kamera Express, I presume they will have more success. None of this would have been an issue if they had not taken payment without being able to fulfill the order in a reasonable time. The advert remember was on the UK website of their UK distributor, I had no reason to assume there was a different website to go to for more accurate information. I will not use them again and advise buyer beware. As it happens since I started this journey the UK website also shows out of stock - delivery unknown but when I ordered it didn't.
